I hope the "bright lights" of LA don't blind his path to success as the dimmer lights in Houston did.
other than Divac and Grant... I think the whole Laker team will be hanging around the 3 point line ... just hoping that Kobe might throw them the ball
I think the sigining has tipped the balance for me. It had been that my hatred for Bryant (and the city of LA) made me a Laker-hater. But, they've picked up so many guys I like -- Rudy T, Odom, Divac, and now Griffin -- that I can't root against them any longer. I won't root for them, but I won't root against them either. I hope EG gets back to where he should be in the league.
yeah right. edddie was such a party animal in houston. just imagine if you put him in los angelous as many time as i seen him in night clubs in houston.
Look at his two listed possible destinations; South Beach and LA. Whichever one he ends with, he should be in rehab again by February. Odom survived his trip to South Beach only to get sent right back to LA. Mabe he can hook EG up with his suppliers.
I hope it works out. I don't love him and I don't hate him but I don't want to see anyone end up in gutter (there are enough people there already). He is being given a second chance that alot of people never get -- hopefully he won't mess this one up
The Rockets gave him a chance, he blew it. New Jersey gave him a chance, he blew it. People are so quick to criticize the Rockets for not "giving him a second chance" that they forget that New Jersey ALSO gave him another chance and he blew THAT one as well!
He might do well in LA he might not...but we can't sit here and say we didn't give him a chance. The guy got plenty of money, plenty of chances to prove he is worth it and he didn't. He might have had problems off the court but it's hard to say he is the only one that has to deal with problems. He dealt with them the wrong way and put himself in this position. I will stick to the fact that i say the guy can be a talented player in the league and might be in the future. But i am not going to sit here and say we didn't give him a chance to shine. He didn't take the opportunities he was given here or NJ. I won't look back if he becomes a great player and say we should have kept him becuase he was not worth the headache that he caused the organization and the fans.
New Jersey didn't give him a second chance. They were only looking to steal a deal. What an opportunity to take a chance on such a talented kid. If he reaches half of his potential at his bargain basement price then they got the coup of the year. As long as he doesn't kill anyone. You think if Eddie didn't have so much talent they would have bothered. Of course not. The reality is Eddie was not ready to return. He may not be completely ready now but he is much further along than he was. He just needed some time and support. But the Rockets decided he used up all of his support with them. So maybe letting him go was the right thing to do but I have to believe if Rudy was still here so would Eddie. And the decision to let Eddie go was all on JVG.
