Hope you don't consider those big market city GM's as great. Just imagine if Morey was the GM of teams like the Lakers or Knicks. He'd probably have all the free agent stars he wants and would've pulled off much more baffling trades.

there really is nto anyone on that list that was ever acquired with the thought that they would play here .. they were on the rockets "Roster" bc they were needed to make trades work salary wise. so yah this doesnt really make morey a dummy to have these players, that is how the nba game is played...look at that list carefully before judging bc it includes a lot of players that we told to not even both showing up

Exactly, look a Fisher for example. Didn't we get that Mavs pick that was in the Harden trade from taking on Dfishes salary. Big market Lakers didn't want to spend the money and were even willing to giove up a first-rounder. That first rounder is lookking more and more attractive for the Thunder. 600,000 for a potential lottery pick is an absolute steal.

want to know the genius of morey? take that 10 million dollars and add garcias 6 million and you know what you get???? cap space to sign a max player next year .. do you know why those players got on our roster to begin with? bc morey was trading salaries and players to add draft picks so he could trade for a max player (harden)

all the wheeling and dealing he has done to this point has brough us to this point .. he has traded for a superstar (harden).. he has drafted a player highly considered to be the best contract in the nba (parsons) he signed, as a FA, a player who will be top 3 in rebounding (asik) he has cap space to add another max player

oh and he has young players who can potentially become the "better than average but below all star level" players in lin, dmo, trob

I'd say this goes to Le$ Alexander doing what he can to be a good owner and make the team better within reason (as opposed to Cuban throwing money at everyone who moves in Dallas). This is 11M Alexander could have pocketed and bought a house or something.

Seriously. Seems like randos create accounts on here to whine about every little detail possible without looking at the big picture.

Serious question: Does (a part of) Scola's salary still count against the Rocket's cap?

Golden State couldn't sign Hardin because of salary issues.
Chicago couldn't match Asik because of salary issues.
Knicks couldn't Match Lin because of salary issues.
Rockets signed all three and have room for one more.

I think Rox management/ownership is doing it's job well.

Want to know the true genius of Morey? He can totally rip a team apart three times a year and still have thousands of people gushing over his genius.

Why would anyone here possibly care about that 11 million dollars if it has no affect on cap space?

No, amnestied player salaries do not count against the team's cap.

Seriously, paying money to garbage players after cutting them isn't a big deal, it is part of the biz.

Sometimes I feel bad for guys getting cut, but then I see that they are making well over six figures and technically don't have to do anything

Considering how difficult it is to get out of the limbo we were in without tanking I think Morey is doing a great job. He got a superstar for two donkeys and a cup of coffee, and has change to spare.

    Excessive "asset shuffling" is expensive.

If you want to know what keeping together our core would have given us, look at the team in Phx. I'll take this team any day.

you know what is funny...morey plays the real basketball like I do in fantasy.

I never win cause I get bored mid season and stop adjusting the roster but I always have the best keepers and usually the best team.

I play a keeper fantasy auction league...where if you keep the player you got in auction or off waivers you keep for the price paid.

Well I constantly work the waiver wire and do smaller trades till i upgrade my roster to enough to land a top player for what basically resulted from waiver pick ups and marginal players.

Like this year my 3 keepers are Jeremy lin 1 dollar, Rondo 5 dollars and James Harden 1 dollar.

My keepers blow everyone else out of the water. Just think its funny he is doing this with real players. Just shows hes all about numbers not emotion. I think that leads to a higher success rate in the end.
