According to their publicist and their "goodbye" video, electronic music super group Daft Punk has retired as a duo. I'm personally not a huge EDM guy, but this group has a TON of hits that crossed genres.
I wouldn't have been surprised if they had formed in the late seventies or early eighties -- feels like they have been around forever (1993 to 2021 is still a long amazing run).
They say "Around The World" 144 times in the album version of "Around The World". You'll be missed...until the call of money brings you back in a few years. Very cool band...along the lines of Kraftwerk and The Art of Noise.
I knew something was up when out of nowhere they finally released their Alive concert in full HD a few weeks back on Youtube. For nearly 14 years they had protected those rare concerts from being put out and it seemed random that I figured it was a promotional thing and an announcement of a new album was coming. ... Yeah what a letdown. RAM did feel like a final album of sorts from them with songs that were essentially un performable in a live setting. It was an album not meant to be anything more than what it was as pure music performed with almost all live instruments and analog gear almost as their FU to electronic music of today in the most beautiful way imaginable. Hopefully this just means they both are going to be more active in other projects at least on the production side. The world needs good music right now more than ever.
So... the gold helmet guy man blew up the silver helmet tom? On a side note, the silver helmet tom's wife, Elodie Bouchez, is a wonderful actress. She was great in Wild Reeds.
They could have just gotten a couple of dudes to dress up in the outfits and keep it going, like the Dread Pirate Roberts for EDM and nobody would have been the wiser.
