Are you really sure you want your son to be like this? (WARNING - AUDIO CLIPS ARE FULL OF NSFW LANGUAGE) I was not a huge sports participant growing up, and I am grateful that neither of my parents tried to force it on me. Instead, my Dad took me fishing and to comic conventions, because that's what I wanted to do. When I started becoming serious about art, they drove me from Kingwood to the Glassel school for painting and comic drawing classes. Later, they bought me my first bass and came to almost every gig that my high school bands played. In contrast, I had a friend/bandmate in high school whose father never came to any of the gigs, told him guitar was a waste of time and that he'd never be the best. He was probably one of the most naturally talented musicians I played with, but he pretty much stopped playing altogether after high school. It sounds to me that the father who inspired this thread is expecting that his son relate to him, rather than realizing the need to relate to his son.
