In this particular case, yes, the leader is also 6'2 ......that is like once in a lifetime guy. The future is still rebuilding thru the draft.....you just need to get the OGs, KATs, Bridges through trades.....transactions.
That Fox contract is also going to be a serious problem for them after next season when Wemby is getting paid. It's going to be most of their cap space on two players.
They'll likely trade him make harper their point. i'm not sold on harper being a great point. he's always more of a scorer to me. we will see
Imo... I'm never in favor of throwing away season after season just for the possibility that ur gonna draft some kid thats gonna lead u to the promised land... but if u wanna tank for assets, it makes sense... u get something for nothing (except being bad)... but I'd then trade those lottery tickets for a proven commodity! Realistically look at what the actual success rate is among draft picks... Everybody is enamored with getting the next Lebron - but u have a far greater likelihood of getting Darko'ed or Kwame'd... thats not to say that I would abandon the draft all together... u can still throw the dice and hopefully get lucky for a far lesser investment late in the draft... but my main focus would be acquiring someone like a Brunson, or a Shai or when DM got Harden... 10 years out is long enough to determine if a player was a boon or a bust... lets look at your potential return on spending a 2016 frp... Ben Simmons – Philadelphia 76ers, LSU Brandon Ingram – Los Angeles Lakers, Duke Jaylen Brown – Boston Celtics, California Dragan Bender – Phoenix Suns, Croatia Kris Dunn – Minnesota Timberwolves, Providence Buddy Hield – New Orleans Pelicans, Oklahoma Jamal Murray – Denver Nuggets, Kentucky Marquese Chriss – Sacramento Kings (traded to Suns), Washington Jakob Poeltl – Toronto Raptors, Utah Thon Maker – Milwaukee Bucks, Australia Domantas Sabonis – Orlando Magic (traded to Thunder), Gonzaga Taurean Prince – Utah Jazz (traded to Atlanta), Baylor Georgios Papagiannis – Phoenix Suns (traded to Kings), Greece Denzel Valentine – Chicago Bulls, Michigan State Juancho Hernangómez – Denver Nuggets, Spain Guerschon Yabusele – Boston Celtics, France Wade Baldwin IV – Memphis Grizzlies, Vanderbilt Henry Ellenson – Detroit Pistons, Marquette Malik Beasley – Denver Nuggets, Florida State Caris LeVert – Indiana Pacers (traded to Brooklyn), Michigan DeAndre' Bembry – Atlanta Hawks, Saint Joseph's Malachi Richardson – Charlotte Hornets (traded to Sacramento), Syracuse Ante Žižić – Boston Celtics, Croatia Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot – Philadelphia 76ers (from Miami via Cleveland), France Brice Johnson – Los Angeles Clippers, North Carolina Furkan Korkmaz – Philadelphia 76ers (from Oklahoma City via Cleveland), Turkey Pascal Siakam – Toronto Raptors, New Mexico State Skal Labissière – Phoenix Suns (traded to Kings), Kentucky Dejounte Murray – San Antonio Spurs, Washington Damian Jones – Golden State Warriors, Vanderbilt how many of these guy were more valuable than their draft pick value... and how many were a loss compared to their draft pick value? Imagine throwing away a whole season to score Dragan Bender or Marquese Chriss... lol
So how is that the Rockets find a Brunson, they have a homeless version in Fred ...... Opinion has nothing to do with it, it is like finding the next Iverson .... I would even argue that in these 10 years finding a unicorn is easier than finding a 6'1 Superstar, but you can certainly roll the dice. Unicorns - Porzingis, Chet, Wemby, (Joker), KAT, arguably Evan Mobley.
oh i have very little confidence in Stone trading for or signing a future star... although Dillon Brooks was a good signing... but I cant say I have any level of confidence in his ability to pick a winner even if given a high draft pick - and given the low success rate...
I feel like it's going to be hard to move Fox's contract at this point. Maybe if he bounces back next season. They might have to give up draft picks to get somebody to take him, or take on a different bad contract. I kind of wanted Fox when I saw the price they paid to get him--until I saw the extension he got. Bullet dodged.
Fox did his thing, they wanted him to mentor their kiddie guards, he did just that. I don't think his tenure is as bad as the Finals have been, he is just out of his depth ....he has never been this far.....
and since u wanna mention Freddy like he's some punchline... He went undrafted and was gotten by Toronto for what - a min contract in 2016... again... look at that list above and tell me how many frps from that year have had a better career?
I think it's hilarious that Wemby is living rent free in older Rockets fan's heads for something like that. The guy grew up a Spurs fan and knew that Houston getting 4th made the Spurs odds of getting first pick higher. The fact people are trying to make it seem like a slight to the city of Houston is so childish.
