Screw Bosh, Morey is so good, he might do a sign and trade with Battier, Jeffries and a bag of Doritos for LeBron!
Well now that a Manu/Scola combo is out of the question, I guess we'll have to settle for a Bosh caliber player.
Wouldn't say basketball gods, but just karma, getting back at the Jazz for getting away with cheating, which is why they have never, and will never, win a championship.
To all those posters who believe the Rockets should stand pat and don't need a star, Morey says "Wrong! I ain't standing put, Bubba". People keep bringing up the Pistons as a reason that the Rockets can win a ring, while forgetting that the Pistons had 2 all-star level players on their team. Morey says he wants an all-star level player.
Fortunately, our GM realizes that we need all star talent. Nobody can rely on Yao. Evan if he was healthy,we would have needed more talent on top of Martin's addition.
No one is arguing against having all star talent, what people are saying is keep the star players and give up the future etc. The only way Bosh comes here is if he publicly SAYS he wants to come here, otherwise we are not getting him. DD
Billups wasn't an all-star until after the Pistons won. That could easily happen for Brooks and/or Martin. Plus Yao is already an all-star.
I'm aware that obtaining an all star will be very difficult. You're right it can happen only if someone really wants to come here, and even then DM will have to avoid overpaying for one. It's gonna require luck. Maintaining team chemistry is also critical for success.
Love having a GM that doesn't sit on his ass. Honestly if you are a star player in the league this team would have to be enticing. Any team that Wins 40+ games without an All-Star player is awesome. Example: Take Lebron James from the Cavs and they probably win 25-30 games. We lost Yao Ming and still have an above .500 record. Imagine how good we are with Yao back and another new star.
Morey clearly doesn't think Brooks and Martin are at that level. If he did, he wouldn't have made a comment about not standing pat and acquiring all-star talent to upgrade the Rockets for a ring.
Well, for the last decade, they have been trading for players that are pubicly asking to play here. They got Francis from Vancouver, who wanted to be in Houston. When they grew tired of him, they switched him out for T-Mac who wanted to be in Houston. Now that T-Mac is gone, it's time for another star that wants to play in Houston. It's not the Rocket's 1st rodeo, they have traded for stars that wanted to leave their teams before.
In the past, Barkley and Garnett could take a pay cut to save money for their teams to acquire better players, I am surprised that nowadays Rockets couldn't do the same thing even if they managed to pursuade Yao to take the pay cut.
I think it's because the Rockets are not at the salary cap, but rather are way over it, so that even if Yao takes a sizable pay cut, they still won't have made room to sign a big-time free agent.
This is an all-star lineup if Yao is healthy. I think les would easily pay LT if this were to happen.
