I think the "poor man's Dirk" comments are probably more accurate.

It will be a few years before we have a clear sense of whether D-mo is going to be a "poor man's" anything. What was Dirk doing at 22 years of age? More than this guy?

Well, yeah, but it was Dirk's 3rd year in the league then. You are right though, his upside is a guy who isn't a poor man's anyone, we'll see if he reaches that.

Dirk was putting up 22 and 9 at that age. Nothing wrong with being a poor man's Dirk

Wait... I thought Bargnani is a poor man's Dirk. Or is he a homeless man's Dirk?

Exactly, but interesting to note, if you look at the per 36 minutes numbers, DMo is doing better now than Dirk did in his first 2 years in the league (at least offensively). There is certainly hope that he will become a very special player when he gets a little more comfortable with the NBA

Dmo's game is nothing like Dirk. His ceiling is a younger, faster, taller, more athletic Luis Scola in his prime with 3 pt. Range... Which in my mind makes him one of the most intriguing big man prospect in the NBA. Who knows if he ever reaches his full potential... But we do know he's gonna work his butt off to get there.

Dirk is a face up player, he is a very very rich man's Patrick Patterson.

D-Mo is completely different. He has legitimate post moves and a back to the basket game.

Replace Scola's mid range jumpers with 3 pt shots and you basically got Motiejunas

Everyone is missing the obvious. He's a quicker Pau Gasol. I've said it since before he was drafted. He passes just a well as Pau too.

Brooks back to Houston, Dragic back to the Suns.

So net-net, Phoenix gave up D-Mo for nothing.

Kevin McHale has long ape-like arms. Motiejunas has short gator arms.
