McCain makes sense on the economy? Did he make sense when his deregulation dreams helped caused the mess we are in now? Does he make sense when his idea of leadership on the economy is to form a commission? What kind of sense is that? We need a leader who will take action on the situation, not form a commission.
great read... of the possible republican candidates, mccain is the best. too bad he has to pander to the party base in order to have a chance in the election. i though mccain would make a great president but the way he has done a complete 180 has kinda shocked me. like the author of the article, i dont agree w/ all of obamas policies but i can clearly see he is a reasonable man and will not be pigheaded when he is wrong. i still have to watch the debates before making a decision...
IROC it, you seem to be having a slow glacial meltdown of epic proportions. You may need to step away from the keyboard.
yes, I have no party affiliation and never have in my 25 years of adulthood....I pretty much think all politicians are worthless pieces of scum who only look out for themselves or their masters. I wish for a government that could take care of basic services that we need our gov to handle without wasting billions. Which of course means that I feel Bush the younger has failed in a craptacular fashion. I dont pretend to have the answer, but I know one thing right now....we need to rein in this money spending machine and learn to keep our noses (and dollars) here at home where it could do the most good. Im sick and tired of the repub foreign policy of the last 8 years and have no wish for it to continue with Mr McCain(which it will, dont be fooled by your fear of those damn socialists ) I normally end up voting for whoever I think is the lesser of two evils, and in this election cycle I'm leaning Obama in hopes that just maybe he means what he says. I wasnt fully on his side till I saw who McCain was gonna run with...and he picked a fundie christian....sorry, homie dont play that. I know about the fundamentalist intent to run the government according to their religious beliefs...its what the religious right has been planning since the early 80s.(I went to a church that approved of that plan and I saw plenty of flyers talking about that intent) On this point me and Dak think alike, I dont mind if you have strong religious beliefs, I just would rather you didnt use them to make law. seriously....forget your infatuation with socialized medicine and try to answer SWTsig point by point...every point he brought up jibes with what I see of Republican politics and it doesnt make sense to me.....and if it doesnt make logical sense to me I cant see myself voting for it. Tell me why I should trust them when they have failed so badly in the last 8 years. I have a relatively open mind(considering I dont trust politicians) and open ears.
Well, one big point being missed in this thread is that nobody seems to have read Obama's plan for healthcare. The assumption of "socialized medicine," even while I might favor it, doesn't describe his proposal at all. What the author of that piece got right is: pragmatic, realistic, prudent. Yeah, even if you don't want to vote for Obama, it's hard to argue with those three. That's what I want in a president. McCain, at this best, has shown himself to be pragmatic, but he's especially not been realistic (taunting Russia) or prudent (choosing Palin to be a potential POTUS) when pandering to the base.
I have to say when Iroc it started going on about socialized medicine, I asked him if he'd actually read Obama's plan. He never answered but by his continued talking about socialized medicine I gathered that he didn't read the plan. HE answered without answering.
