I figured this would be better than having two threads. Vipers lost to the Austin Toros on Dec 11th here's the recap Novak shot 50% from the field 6-12 with 2-4 3's and had 14 pts, 9 rbs and it looks like he played the whole game. Aaron Brooks had 8 rbs and 6 assits shooting 9-19 from the field. here's the boxscore
Also since I was perusing to see when they played Fort Wayne (so I could possibly go to the game) I found a couple of photos. Spoiler They were big.. so I though I would save the trouble of having to see the whole thing unless ya wanted too. Also they play tonight against the Idaho Stampede as an FYI
Wow those Vipers uniforms look good. If Aaron Brooks could get 8 rebounds, Novak's 9 falls short of impressing. A 5-11 guy almost got as many as a guy who's got 10 inches on him? They must not box out in the D-League.
Trip, Guards get rebounds in the backcourt mostly from long range jump shots. Have you ever doinked a jump shot from the three point line during a pickup game and got your own rebound without having to crash the boards? -P1st, S2nd
Steve Novak 49:20 ? I thought D league games last 48 minutes... and another guy's play time is 0-1:0-20? What does this mean?
Gabe Muoneke is putting up some pretty good numbers. I know that we own the rights to Aaron and Steve, how does it work with the other players? I asume that they could b picked up by any pro team at any time.
Is it possible to watch any of these games on TV/online? Just wondering... I wanna see these guys in action.
NBA TV shows some D league games: http://www.nba.com/dleague/news/tv_schedule.html No vipers this month though...
I think like the NBA it depends on if they are drafted signed as a free agent or what. It's not like they are getting paid NBA money (unless they are of course players on NBA rosters sent down) but they aren't getting paid double A minor league baseball money either. I did a search and can't find any details though. Edit... I did find some info.. http://www.insidehoops.com/nbdl.shtml So I guess they are getting double A money for free agents. Edit #2... here's a better link http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=7239948
okay I am loving on this Gabe kid.... wait he's nearly my age, so I can't call him kid. Check out his blog . He's absolutely fabulous.. If yall have time please read this blog. Here's an example Someone must sign this guy.. if only for the post game quotes.
only guys who shoot hard at the basket can have their ball bounce back to them...usually they have bad form. ive never had a ball clank and bounce right back to me because i have a high arcing shot with great rotation. when i miss it sticks to the rim before falling out.
To give some perspective, look at the stats of Darius Washington in that D league game vs what he did last night with Tony Parker out for San Antonio: D league: 43 MIN, 11-19 FG, 3-5 3PT, 5 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL, 29 pts vs Lakers: 11 MIN, 1-4 FG, 0-1 3PT, 1 REB, 1 AST, 1 STL, 3 pts Good to see that our guys are shooting well down there though. I wouldn't be surprised if one or both get a chance to contribute for the Rockets at some point this year.
