Who says we can get Jones for that cheap? If we could, then ya we would get him, but the FA market has gone nuts and he won't sign a deal starting at 3.5M when he knows he can get much more.

So a few pictures tells you that Jones is a fun loving, good guy who enjoys basketball and Daniels isn't? I saw Daniels in San Antonio and he was the same type of player. You can't judge players on a few pictures you dug up on the internet.

I really disagree. I have never seen anything to indicate that Fisher has the capabilities or desire to play an uptempo game. During their earlier championship years, the Lakers were better because Shaq was better. Also, during the 2nd championship run, Fisher had his best playoffs ever because he was hitting an incredible number of threes. His effectiveness dropped because he wasn't shooting as well, not because the Lakers suddenly played a slower tempo (which i don't think is true).

The Rockets have slowed their tempo considerably in recent years. Fisher was a relatively speedy PG early on in his Lakers days, but the Lakers slowing the tempo down and possibly his foot injury, slowed him down. You don't have to be a constant running team to be an uptempo team, just the capability of running, and the Lakers could run with Fish at the point. But the Lakers got old, especially their role players, thus they slowed down.

Nobody is saying that Daniels is the answer to our problems. He helps one of our problems. Daniels is a bigger, stronger, more athletic PG. That's why he's an upgrade, he can do some of the things that Lue can do without the weaknesses that lue has (size). If Lue were bigger he would probably start for a team.

Gamble is right. Now I have NOTHING against draft picks - I would take 1 or 2 every single year, BUT there is some reasoning behind teams NOT wanting to get too many 1st round picks, with all the

the NBA can be a real crap shoot. T-mac was the 9th pick (behind the "great" Tim Thomas!!!!)

I could drop names like Sam Bowie, Jon Koncak, Benoit Benjamin or maybe you are too old for those and want examples like Bobby Hurley, Antonio Daniels (who was picked 4th !) and Robert Traylor

but I will leave you with this thought on late first rounders...

    I give you ... Mr. Rhodes !

again, all I am saying is that with all the steals that make it to the 2nd round and all the busts - I can see why some teams don't mind parting with a first rounder or 2

Late 1st round picks are a gamble at best. Plus they get guaranteed 3 yr contracts. 2nd round picks don't get guaranteed contracts. The talent level isn't that much different between a late 1st & 2nd round pick. Therefore teams would rather trade late 1st picks.
