Unless you have an official statement stating it was a "dark-skinned male", then there is really nothing to this. Several people were falsely identified during the chaos of the last week, including these two guys that got their faces plastered on the front page of the NY Post. The media and their sources get it wrong. Quite often, as is evidenced by some of their mistakes this past week. You could develop all kinds of conspiracies in your head if you take every unverified statement in an investigation as fact.

Well, ****. Things just went up a few notches.

    Tsarnaev Sleeper Cell

Change anyone's mind RE: Miranda Rights for suspected terrorists, even US citizens? Should Tsarnaev have the right to remain silent if he is indeed a member of a sleeper cell? Scary times we live in.

If the FBI really overlooked all of this what have we learned since 9/11? The FBI stops terror plots they essentially nurture, but miss the real ones? The failed terror plots not involving the FBI were basically a failure of the terrorists themselves not being able to successfully detonate their explosives (shoe bomber, underwear bomber).

No surprise. I mean, the idea that these guys were "self-radicalized" because Islam is inherently violent is a naive and dangerous view point.

This is silly. You and I have no idea how many terror plots were stopped by the CIA or other intelligence agencies that we will never hear about.

As for the FBI, maybe they nurture all the ones they know about so they can get stronger sentences and put those people away longer. That doesn't make those any less "real".

I don't believe it to be silly at all, but to each their own. While we don't know everything, what we do know about this particular case doesn't instill me with confidence.

I agree that it's not surprising, but the article doesn't really assure that there's a sleeper cell -- it's just a major possibility that the FBI has to pursue.

Why Al Q would have a sleeper cell wait for years to kill four people in Boston seems kind of odd, but there doesn't have to be any particular logic.

Thanks, that's true, and I saw another article published this morning where Mayor Menino says they acted alone.

As far AQ goes, perhaps the sleeper cell could be directly related, or maybe it's some Chechen offshoot or some other terror group altogether? Hopefully, we find out quickly.

Probably hoping for more than 4, but 200 injured isn't bad either. Plus the world attention it gathers.

It took a dozen years for another hit on the U.S. I am sure they are happy to just get one in after so long.

It's about instilling fear and uncertainty destroying the American society as much as it is about casualties.

But the problem is that you're making judgments about information you specifically don't know. The issue is not this case - the issue is all the cases you don't know about and never will because they are classified. Without that information, you can't possibly judge whether intelligence and terrorism-prevention has improved since 9/11.

Unless you expect 100% success, one successful terrorist attack tells us nothing at all about our terror prevention capability. If it was 1 out of 1, then that's far more problematic if there were 10,000 attempts that you don't know about and 1 succeeded.

    ^

why did they leave off the DC Sniper, 9/11 and 7/7?

The deaths from those dwarf anything on that page

Anyone notice a common theme in all of these incidents?

hint: the perpetrators all have Y chromosomes.

    Aafia Siddiqui

Who doesn’t know her, I mean why we would be making this list anyway. A mother of three; schooled well, joined MIT, a fluent English speaker and by far the most suspected terrorist belonging to Al Qaida Organization. To top it up she is a neuroscientist, who can mess with your mind and you won’t even know it. FBI has captured her and has her in custody in New York. She also had a computer flash drive with emails (serving as a road map) sent to various suspected Al Qaida members around the world. I mean this is what Al Qaida wants, a highly educated fish that can blend almost anywhere.

9 other top female terrorists here:

Islam is largely immune from criticism because the intolerance it preaches is couched in religion, and largely practiced by nonwhites. Criticism can be silenced with accusations of racism or religious intolerance.

Drape some stories and traditions and temples and costumes over your value system, and you are good to go. Oh and make sure it's largely practiced by poor nonwhites.

I love how people gloss over Christian intolerance for many centuries and come up with the half-crocked theories to justify their prejudice.

No one ever cares to address the underlying real cause of what's happening here. Everyone wants to blame religion, but then say their religion is pure and doesn't cause any problems.

In reality, no won ever addresses the poverty and oppressive gov't that have created such a fanatical reaction. And of course people like to ignore the fanatics on the other side of the equation.

Yeah, people want to try to make "racism" into some sort of legit "criticism".

It shows how insidious hatred really is. These guys have more in common with their supposed enemy than they realize.
