Long lines and hourslong waits for required medical screenings greeted weary travelers returning to some U.S. airports amid coronavirus-related travel restrictions.

The dense crowds Saturday at some of the 13 airports where travelers from Europe are being funneled - among the busiest across the country - formed even as public health officials called for "social distancing" to stem the spread of the pandemic.

 

There are reports (varying) that the droplets from a sneeze or cough travel 6 to 10 feet and stay in the air as much as 30 minutes.

So, while you may be right about surfaces, depending on the veracity of the reports, it may be different than any other visit during the flu season. Plus, some reports are indicating that it is more contagious and more deadly than the flu. Guess it depends on what one chooses to believe.

I don’t like this. Our cases will increase 33% a day without intervention. With intervention who knows how low we can get it. when we get an R<1 we will win this round.

they are about to increase dramatically just b/c starting to measure about 10x people.

for now remember to not conflate our measured number w a real number, especially the asymptomatic.

 

It is possible for this to be a serious issue and for the media to overhype the situation. I think both are happening. It is important that people follow the advice of the experts who are doing their jobs and not playing politics. It is a real situation and the more people do to limit the spread especially to the vulnerable populations.

If it were a dem president, Republicans would be b****ing about it while others would mostly be silent while taking their politicians into account.
