The WSJ title doesn't match the content of the article. The article points out that we don't know yet. We don't know the antibodies threshold level for protection against infection. Current vaccines seem to be waning. Knowing this will help vaccines fine-tune for different age groups and calculate how long it provides protection against infection. We don't know if memory cell provides lifetime protection against severe illness. Current vaccines seem to still be holding up well against severe illness.
I see Abbott get a lot of hate for not mandating masks or vaccines and what not. But I don't see similar ridicule around here on the Biden admin for releasing Haitian refugees into the country who are not vaxed. The Press Secretary said it didn't matter because "they do not intend to stay long." Um what? They can still infect people and spread the virus. At least be consistent in your ridicule folks.
but this is good news https://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2021/09/one-billion-vaccinations-per-month.html One Billion Vaccinations in a Month! by Alex Tabarrok September 22, 2021 at 7:33 am The news on world vaccinations is good. As of late September of 2021 we have vaccinated 3.43 billion people (2.51 billion people with 2 doses). Even more impressive over the last 30 days the world vaccinated one billion people. That is a tremendous achievement. There are about 7.9 billion people in the world so 44% of the world has had at least one dose and nearly a third of the world population has had two doses. We are on track to fully vaccinate 70% of all adults in 2021 and most of the world that wants a dose by early 2022. Judging by the US, demand will be more of a constraint than supply as we hit ~60% of the world population.
Your ridiculously feeble "whataboutism" fails... abbott is actively setting policies and speaking out against masking, vaccinations etc. Biden speaks out and sets policies to promote masking and vaccination. Pointing to a relatively small group of people in an extraordinary situation and saying "see, hypocrites" misses the mark (as with virtually all your arguments).
Abbot is anti-vaccine? He took the vaccine and encouraged it. He said his case of Covid that he got recently was manageable because of the vaccine. GTFO with made up crap. He ends all of his vaccine tweets, "always voluntary, never mandatory." Is that an anti vaccine message? Again, anti-vax does NOT equal anti-mandate. Get that through your double thick skull. Mask mandates are useless. People don't wear the right kind of mask, and they often are too stupid to wear it properly. Only a fool would still be on masks right now.
Texas school district ignores AG’s threat on mask mandates and COVID cases drop 84% https://www.yahoo.com/news/texas-school-district-ignores-ag-175419056.html Mayo Clinic Minute: Study shows masks can prevent COVID-19 https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/...inute-study-shows-masks-can-prevent-covid-19/
He doesn't appear to be actively promoting vaccine skepticism, but rather enabling vaccine skeptics by impeding the efforts of local governments to increase vaccination rates in the communities under their governance. That choice is leading to less people getting vaccinated who should be getting vaccinated. Whether we call that "anti-vaccine" or not really doesn't matter. It's the effects his policies would have on public safety that we should be concerned with, not labels.
How is Abbott impending the efforts of local governments to increase vaccination rates in the communities under their governance?
He banned local governments from imposing vaccine mandates when we know vaccine mandates have the effect of increasing vaccination rates.
It's not the mask mandate... it's not allowing schools or municipalities to make rules regarding wearing masks. In Florida, I don't care that DeSantis won't issue a mask mandate. What I don't like is that he is working to prevent schools and private businesses from instituting their own policy.
Not sure what this means -- I said nothing about governments going into people's homes and forcing them to get a vaccine, if that's what you are talking about. I'm referring to this: https://www.texastribune.org/2021/08/25/texas-covid-19-vaccine-mandates-ban-greg-abbott/

“no governmental entity can compel any individual to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.” He's right. Again, learn how to differentiate between anti-vax vs anti-mandate. Still difficult for you I see.
