I ended up having to go to a urgent care last night because of a 102 fever. Ended up negative for Covid thankfully, but terrible night. My doctor did say avoid ERs because it wouldn't be safe for me.
The inability or unwillingness to deal with the virus is much worse on the economy. More people getting vaccines and wearing masks will allow a more robust return to a full economy. Which economy did better during the pandemic? California with it's protective restrictions or the wide open flagrant disregard used in Florida? https://news.yahoo.com/lockdown-sta...cdbGiWiSTVO4GV8GhQrIxgyI93aRaUipVUdqYsZjXcbw3
I get a newsletter now from the Perryman Group, an economic research company that specializes in the Texas economy. Here's one they did on the economic damage caused by Abbott sacrificing people's lives for the sake of the economy.
What I still don't understand is how hospitalizations aren't taken into serious account. Unless you have a wicked jumpshot, an $80,000 hospital bill even for the insured can be a huge set back. I've read insured people are still having to pay $20,000 plus. Maybe if enough conservatives get overloaded with hospital bills then they would get behind healthcare for everyone. Haha yeah right just my wishful thinking.
Ivermectin isn't really cheap w/o insurance either...Obviously a drop in the bucket when the **** hits the fan, but these people's numbers and risk tolerances are FUBAR. https://www.goodrx.com/ivermectin
LOL... the former sportscaster that said COVID-19 was overrated, that it was less serious than the flu, that only several hundred people would die from it, and that the chance of someone younger than 80 or without pre-existing conditions was virtually zero. Yea... another great source for information...
The sad thing is, Kristi Noem's approach works there. It's all about the Cultural Divide. "You can get long-term health problems, or just flat-out die. You have kids. A wife. A golden retriever. Get the shot!" "F*** cognitive dissonance," (after the term is explained to them), "I can't get sick. I have type O blood. And I played football! I'm not bowing to federal usurpers." Hell, even Trump was booed when trying to tell the truth about getting vaccinated (and you can bet all the would-be Presidential aspirants saw that: Noem, deSatanist, Paul, etc). cog·ni·tive dis·so·nance /ˈkäɡnədiv ˈdisənəns/ noun PSYCHOLOGY the state of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as relating to behavioral decisions and attitude change.
This guy battled COVID19 for 2.5 weeks? That ain't ****, I battled it for 18 months and counting by wearing a mask and behaving responsibly and most importantly getting vaccinated ASAP so as to reduce my risk of hospitalization and dying by 99.9+ percent. This guy didn't and now, T&P to his family who has to carry the weight of his ignorance.
