    Biden versus the Deep State

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2021/07/29/biden-vaccine-federal-workers/

Biden’s planned vaccine rule meets resistance from large groups of federal workers
Groups representing law enforcement, postal workers, and IRS managers all issue statements raising concerns about a government mandate.

    By Eli Rosenberg
    Today at 2:00 p.m. EDT

President Biden’s expected announcement of a vaccine mandate for federal workers has splintered groups representing large numbers of employees, raising questions about compliance and enforcement as the White House attempts to arrest the spread of covid-19′s delta variant.

Some sectors of the federal workforce, including groups as disparate as law enforcement officers and postal workers, raised immediate concerns about the requirement, sending an early signal of looming problems.

The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, which represents more than 26,000 federal officers, has blasted the idea, saying that it believes requiring vaccines represented an infringement on civil rights.

“There will be a lot of pushback, it’s going to be an avalanche,” President Larry Cosme said, warning that many of the group’s members at the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security would be very opposed.

Rather than try to force employees to get vaccines, Cosme said, the government could offer financial or other incentives to employees that get vaccinated.

Similarly, the American Postal Workers Union said that it was opposed to the mandatory vaccines for postal workers, saying in a statement late Wednesday that policies about vaccination and testing must be negotiated individually with the union.

The Professional Managers Association, meanwhile, which represents thousands of Internal Revenue Service managers, also released a statement that pushed back on the idea of a mandate, saying that it thought the issue should be left to “agency leadership.”

Some traditionally left-leaning unions have also shown resistance.

The American Federation of Teachers, which represents some 130,000 health care workers who could be affected by different vaccine mandates in places like California, released a statement saying that mandatory vaccinations must be part of the collective bargaining process between unions and government leaders.

“In order for everyone to feel safe and welcome in their workplaces, vaccinations must be negotiated between employers and workers, not coerced,” said the union’s president, Randi Weingarten, typically a prominent liberal ally. “We believe strongly that everyone should get vaccinated unless they have a medical or religious exception, and that this should be a mandatory subject of negotiation for employers to keep their employees safe and build trust. But health care professionals are concerned that mandating vaccines outside contract negotiation will only result in more people leaving the bedside at a time when staffing levels are already low from the trauma of the past year.”

Seems like more a "union turf issue" than a "civil rights issue".

    Couple of rich points:
    • A union boss suggesting bribes as a viable alternative as opposed to the forced mandate
    • A union for Law Enforcement calling it a "civil rights" violation as if they ever cared about protecting it when the shoe was on the other foot.

It won't be forced vaccinations. It's get a vaccine or wear a mask + get regular COVID tests:

    https://www.npr.org/2021/07/29/1022...cination-rates-by-focusing-on-federal-workers

Under Biden's new rules, federal employees and contractors — a group that the White House said includes more than 4 million Americans — will need to confirm they are vaccinated or be tested once or twice a week for the virus. Those who cannot attest to being vaccinated will also have to wear masks while on the job.

Crayon eaters follow junk science, and they hate you for the fact they're tyrannically forced to mask up.

And in the military, it will be mandated.

“Today, the president will announce that he is directing the Department of Defense to look into how and when they will add COVID-19 vaccination to the list of required vaccinations for members of the military,” the White House said in a fact sheet released ahead of a speech Biden will give Thursday afternoon about steps he's taking to encourage more vaccinations.

I don't understand the mindset of people who see the toll that COVID is taking daily. Who have already seen many of their colleagues and others get vaccinated with no side effects yet still refuse to get vaccinated. They of all people should realize they are not just putting themselves at risk but putting their patients and others at risk. Them getting sick also means they won't be able to do their jobs but also that they will be taking resources from others not only with COVID but others facing medical emergencies.

Look at the date, much has changed since then. But of course, that simple explanation would not allow you the chance to mislead.
