Covid could give Biden a great opportunity to get off to a good start in his presidency and provide evidence of effective government action.. As at best it will take several months for the hopefully good vaccines to be distributed. Biden could (as one advisor counsels) propose a two or three month lockdown, with Canadian or European income support to clearly prevent say another 50 to 100 k deaths. The advantage to this should be apparent to even many of the Trumpers on the lower economic segments of the movement as they await their access to the vaccine, but I could be underestimating their brain washing.

I don't know if Biden could survive a lockdown backlash. The GOP and FoxNews are ready and waiting to be massive hypocrites and gaslight half of America to believe that Biden is a tyrant, and ruining TRUMP's economy and killing your jobs with a lockdown. The right cannot wait to propagate against Biden using Covid. They always project their weaknesses on Dems, and they always tell us what they are going to do before they do it... which is what they've been doing for months now with the Gretchen Witmer example. I think Dr. Birx needs to be kept around just simply for messaging on any type of lockdown measures. Most on the right think she is in their camp and a Trump friendly. You might want to think about using her to message to the right on FoxNews from Feb to May. Otherwise not only will their be massive backlash, but Trumpers will just refuse to wear masks, congregate, etc. and so you get a double wammy of having no positive results, and having a backlash. Biden is in a tough spot. I think the most important thing they can do is messaging from sources the right cannot dispute. Dr. Fauci will not work as a lead communicator because the right doesn't trust him. The scientists on the panel.... maybe because they are new.... but really you need a messaging strategy more than anything that has Republicans communicating the orders on down, or else it'll be counteractive to battling the virus. Sucks we even have to deal with these ignorant snowflakes like this, but it's the unfortunate reality.
Well the good news/bad news is we likely wont be first in line to get a vaccine anyways. I'm not sure about your demographic but I'm personally a 38 year old male in decent health who can work from home. I'm thinking I'll probably be put very low on the list to get the vaccine, and we should have months of results before it gets to be my turn, and probably the turn of many on this site that aren't in healthcare, etc.

Putin had his own daughter take the russian Sputnik vaccine before even it even started the the last phase trial to encourage their citizens to take it. I am not taking any vaccine until they open publish the safety results for everyone so I can read them and judge on my own.
