Sparked? No. People gave up around Memorial Day weekend just as people were ******** on the Liberate Bugaloo boys were storming the Michigan capital. We had flattened the curves and states started their reopening plans. Added fuel? Definitely.

All the stupid ****s should’ve just stayed home. Want to protest? Stand apart outside and wear your ******* mask. Want to watch a Trump rally? Stand apart outside and wear your ******* mask.

Yep, and it’s very sad and depressing to think about. We, as a nation, have truly lost our way.

If that were the case it would be spiking everywhere. There were protests everywhere. It's spiking in places with Republican governors that rushed to open and California.

Do you think Trump's million ticket Tulsa rally and jam packed Arizona event will spark outbreaks?

I know politic will skews and these events will be another shinny object to attack... quick to attack them and blame them would be in order, especially as cases climb, deflection from gov failure is important.

But... let's look at some data.

The Michigan capital protest and the BLM protests were both "live experiment" that could yield some interesting data. And so far... the data suggest likely no impact.

Michigan didn't see an uptick, but in fact a continuing slow downward trend.

BLM protests were national wide and some of the largest protests were in States that not only didn't have an uptick, the trend continue to go down (see NY for example).

Someone can compile the data better, but so far... there doesn't seem to be a good correlation. If indeed they have little impact, this might be useful for certain re-opening within a new temporary norm. Outdoor with mask and little physically distancing is safe => business can proceed to open but it must be outdoor. Want a haircut? Have it outdoor. Restaurant? Only allow outdoor tables. Beach? Go ahead. And so on...

Actually not if the virus had already spread like wildfire through there previously. Like in NYC.

Putting this in the D&D for its cringeworthiness.

I guess it beats receiving death threats for reporting "bad numbers" on time.

Austin blames labs use of fax machines for long wait times for coronavirus test results

Austin Public health officials say that a recent drop in coronavirus cases after the city experienced a spike this month could be attributed to antiquated equipment labs are using to report data.

"I am stunned to hear that the way we are getting the results of the tests on infections is by fax. That's like a third world technology. Most young people don't even know what a fax machine is anymore," Travis County Commissioner Brigid Shea told CBS Austin. "This incredibly wasteful, stupid process of putting it on fax paper and faxing it to somebody so that they then have to manually enter it on a computer.”

Mark Escott, Interim Health Authority for Austin Public Health, told CBS Austin that the agency spends time manually entering thousands of results in their database each day.

"It's not uncommon for us to have a week to 10 days between when a person is tested and when their case is entered in the system so they can be called," Escott said.

State law requires labs to report data digital, though not all comply. Travis County officials are looking into enforcement measures, and Shea has requested Escott give them the names of the labs still using fax machines.

This week Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) asked residents to stay home as the state grapples with a surge in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations. The governor also indicated he has no plans to reimpose restrictions on businesses.

Are these the same people who went to the beach for Memorial Day weekend?

    Just curious.

This is not a serious opinion.

NYC has not reached herd immunity, which may not even be possible with CV-19.

Matt Gaetz thinks she’s just his type. If she has a 14 year old son or brother that he can use politically, he’d be all over that.

What's odd is that cases in MN have been slowing down.

I mean, this shouldn't be noteworthy or surprising. A natural consequence of 3 trillion of government spending taking place over 90 days is going to result in a lot more than $1.4 billion in misapplied funds.

Medicare is defrauded to the tune of somewhere in the ball park of $50 - 100 billion per annum. We have a massive and poorly run federal government which I would contend are not good stewards of our public funds.
