To go non-Trump for a moment, de Blasio was asked point blank several times if he had waited too long to order business closings and shelter in place in NYC, and he repeatedly said no, that he did things the right way at the right time. It was kind of unbelievable, but I guess you can't say "oops, my bad" when there are hundreds of people dying every day around you. Was still surreal b/c clearly they were too late on the order.
Regarding China, I go to the Google News aggregator every day and this week there has been a big uptick across the board from all the right wing media sites (Fox News, Washington Examiner, etc) in anti-China virus stories. It seems coordinated, or maybe it is just echo chamber amplification. I also stumbled across a story in Politico or Daily Beast or one of those sites that the right hate that indicated it is being pushed hard by evangelicals who were holding a grudge against China for persecuting Christians, but I cant find that story right now.
Or it's a natural reaction to being locked in because of the self serving actions of communists on the other side of the world. It's not some grand coordinated conspiracy bro.
De Blasio is a poor poor leader. Just goes to show how Trumpism is infecting American politics. Politicians always lied, but now they can just manufacturer a new reality.
When racists are feeling failing or losing, they will always resort to hating on someone not even related to their problem. It is proven by the history.
It wasnt there last week, and blam! suddenly it is everywhere this week. Forgive me if I find that a bit peculiar. I'm willing to posit that your media guys just talk among themselves and only read each other in their tiny little clique.
That's because it is basically coordinated...maybe not intentionally by the media outlets, but the backers that sponsor right-wing sites and personalities send emails to the outlets and the personalities stating what they want. This Harvard paper in 2015 basically breaks it all down (and reading it now, Trump is the personification of what right-wing media wanted). Pretty chilling to read the entire paper, especially considering that Republicans were actually able to win in 2016. https://shorensteincenter.org/conservative-media-influence-on-republican-party-jackie-calmes/ Even before the Fluke storm, some syndicated radio hosts were taking sponsorship dollars from Tea Party-affiliated groups, including FreedomWorks, Heritage Action, Koch-backed Americans for Prosperity, Tea Party Patriots and the Senate Conservatives Fund. That cemented the collaboration of media and advocacy groups in opposing the Republican leadership, and in demanding an ideologically pure agenda and discouraging compromise. Politico reported in April 2014 that, based on its review of federal tax filings and other information, several of the well-known groups had spent almost $22 million between 2008 and 2012 to sponsor programs including those of Limbaugh, Levin, Ingraham, Hannity and Beck, as well as lesser-known hosts. FreedomWorks, Politico reported, had given $6 million in that time to Beck, while Heritage sponsored Hannity for several years and spent $9.5 million over five years to back Limbaugh’s program.[60] The talkers in turn promote the groups, their positions on issues and their favored candidates – candidates who often have been Tea Party challengers to Republican incumbents or, in open-seat races, to the establishment’s preferred candidates. Such financial deals apparently continue, to the chagrin of establishment Republicans. Levin, for one, “was at the forefront of the effort to make demands of Republican leaders that are unaccomplish-able, and he works in concert with Heritage Action and the Club for Growth,” said a congressional leadership aide who would not be named. “And they like to put down markers – that House Republican leaders should demand ‘X’ and they should stand firm, they should demand repeal of Obamacare. And if you notice, every time they do that, they send out an email to their list and they’ve got a big ‘donate’ button. They have found that they can stir up the grassroots and, most importantly, raise money off the idea that if only Republican leaders stood firm and chose to fight, they could win.” The aide added, “That’s all well and good, but when you’re setting down a marker and you know that your ask is un-accomplishable, that it’s not a goal that’s achievable, then it’s just about ratings and money.”[61] Political scientists also have noticed this alliance of media and advocacy groups. Richard Meagher of Randolph-Macon College wrote in an article in New Political Science in December 2012, “The ‘Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy’: Media and Conservative Networks,” that his research demonstrated “how media organizations work within these networks to revive and promise ideas and action on the Right.” Meagher wrote, “The American Right’s speedy political recovery after the historic 2008 election was driven in part by Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck. Yet conservative media are just one key component in the broad political networks built over the past few decades. Conservative talk radio, print publications, television networks, and internet sites have numerous connections, both direct and indirect, with the think tanks, advocacy organizations, academic research centers, and foundations that develop and promote the Right’s policy agenda.”[62]
but there are way more deaths in Trump's detention camps at the borders .... the data showed you guys are real NAZIs.
Bill de Blasio gives us Democrats cover, however. Whenever I criticize Trump to his fans (carefully, for they are a loyal lot, well indoctrinated), I can now say, "Look, I can at least share the wealth here. The New York mayor? Clown. CLOWN." It isn't much cover, though, given that New Yorkers by and large dislike the guy, too. De Blasio was working out at his favorite gym the morning he issued the stay at home order, which came well after he was telling New Yorkers to "go out and live their lives." "Poor poor leader" doesn't even get there. He's the Latin major in college who becomes captain of a platoon in Vietnam due to being ROTC. The sergeants wonder if they should draw straws to have the guy fragged before he can get them all killed.
I remember when people used to say Coronavirus was being overhyped... Coronavirus now leading cause of death in US https://thehill.com/homenews/news/4...ause-of-death-in-us?__twitter_impression=true
Here's bill o'reilly obviously pitching to get his fox news job back on the hannity show... Bill O'Reilly: Many of those dying from coronavirus 'were on their last legs anyway' https://thehill.com/homenews/media/...ing-from-coronavirus-were-on-last-legs-anyway
I was gonna say maybe to help his reelection but that's not the case. I'm not sure why he didn't just admit fault and move forward.
Headline reads like a story from The Onion, but the actual story in The Onion would have been a little lighter about it.
