So, there seems to be a pretty obvious consensus here: No on Tejada unless it's as a 3B for a cheap price. However, any indication on what Ed Wade and Drayton McLane are thinking?

Outside of Roger and Andy, I've rarely seen Drayton McLane tip his hand.

This rumor makes no sense on many different levels. First, you're telling me the Astros would be willing to trade away their Opening Day center fielder, one they acquired via trade? If they do that, then they're back to square one again in center. They will have, for the second time, given up a defensively sound, speedy, top of the order outfielder. And what's worse is they already traded away their next best center prospect. So now you're back to Pence in center and Scott in left...but wait, you'd probably have to package Scott in there to get him right? If not there, then Scott's being packaged for a pitcher.

Next, getting Tejada goes against the organization's current philosophy on speed and defense....Everett is one of if not the best defensive shortstops in the game.

And then, this team is in dire need of a solid number 2 pitcher in the rotation. You're not gonna get that via free agency and you're not gonna get that through a trade if you trade away you're best trade bait (Burke, Scott, others?) for a shortstop you don't really need.

This just does not make sense, and if it actually were to go down, all those positive notions generated from his recent moves would be gone for me.

JYD: completely agree, but one nit picked: I wouldn't say they "gave up" on the young speedy CF, as it takes something to give something. They traded a valuable commodity for what they considered to be a valuable commodity. It's not like they traded him for a A pitcher, or left him exposed to the Rule V, or cut him.

But I do agree--Tejada makes sense only if he can play 3rd and only if the Astros still have enough pieces to get a good pitcher without depleting the farm. Since the first two alone are already unlikely and the farm is already in pretty bad shape, Tejada just makes no sense.

Plus, he's a drama queen. All you guys moaning about Pettitte ain't seen nothing yet.

Pence and Patton for Santana. Call it an offseason.

Even if you are willing to give up Pence (which would be stupid for a few reasons), what you proposed ain't gonna get it done.

It will take at least three players.

I contend that's an immensely superior offer to the Yankees', although I doubt the Twins are seriously considering that one.

    No, thats who Baltimore wants.

One thing we need to do is bite the bullet on a solid #2. Burke and Scott are not going to pull us anything decent without us giving up too much in prospects. If we wanted somone like Santana (Which is not gonna happen, period) would START at Pence and Patton. And I can assure you we will have to throw on some more top prospects to get a chance at him. No way Jose.

So, get over Santana. He has one more year on contract then he is leaving for New York or Boston. He is gonna demand alot of money.

Dontrelle. IF the Astros could somehow pull him I would say go. BUT, NOT if we had to give up Pence and Patton. Dontelle has been on a decline and isnt worth as much as he was before. Problem is, alot of other teams have more cards to deal for dontrelle then we do.

Eric Gagne, There was a report the Astros where talking to Boras about Gagne. This has been shut down by Wade. All that happened was Boras called Wade to inform him that he is avaliable. BUT, if the Astros did pursue Gagne, I would personally be all for it, IF it isnt over 2 years and not too much. He was bad at Boston, but he was bounced around the bullpen. Gagne is a closer and thats where he needs to be. Look at his Texas numbers.

Tejada, ooommmmgggg. If we got Tejada; it better not include Bourne. And if Everett is the one traded, we better be able to find a good SS because Tejada doesnt need to be playing SS. 3RD is where we should put him. (If we got him). His numbers have gone down, but he was injured and missed like 29 games. I personally would say no thanks to this trade. Not with Everett or Bourne.

I'd do anything to get Tejada, but not give up Bourn.

Sometimes you guys read this stuff all wrong. It's not a proposed trade, they just had some talks and those were the names that interested the Orioles, but it's dead now anyways because their interest isn't as high as it used to be and they aren't moving Bourn.

So if you think it's complete BS, you are wrong, there were discussions about Tejada, it just didn't go very far.
