Jeff Haggadorn will likely take over what you call the "leadership" role and Coop will play off of him like Sir Charles on TNT.

Read the whole Chron story and my above post.

In the early nineties Lisa was a sports reporter for one of the local stations and used to do the Rocket wrap live from the Summit after the game. She would occaisionally wear a business suit top, that would be seen by the viewers at home, and very short and tight blue jean cuttoffs. I wish her the best.

First they bring in a white female in Lisa to get some chics to watch, now they bring in a black female to try to get more chics and the dikes to watch too. The more people that watch, the more money they make.

i say give the $6.5 mil exception the rockets just picked up and give it to Jillian Barbarie as the halftime host. whatever stupid trade or firing they do the rest of the year will be forgiven.

Like Jeff said ... I'm amazed at how many people keep missing that it is Cynthia Cooper AND Jeff Hagedorn co-hosting the show.

Cooper has a great screen presence and a great understanding of the game. Jeff is a real pro broadcaster. They've had good chemistry working together, and, yes, the initial idea will be, in essence, to have Jeff play Ernie to Cynthia's Charles (or to play James Brown to Cynthia's Terry Bradshaw ... take your pick of analogies).

And yes, we're planning on having periodic guests on the show as well. Former players, and even some fans.

We want to have a show that we believe, over time, can get us to best in class. Putting a combination like this together as hosts is one of the steps to getting there. We're pretty excited about it.

Hopefully this will increase ratings for 51. When I did post-game shows on 20, right when the game ended, the ratings would sink. I remember there were times during a late west coast game we would HAVE to do a post-game show because Reliant paid so much to have one. But we would just watch the clock and hope to get out as soon as possible. Lisa would read through the scores, make no comments and we'd be gone.

BTW - Lisa IS TALL, but very very sweet and cool to work with!! I liked her alot and she was very appreciative (as long as you didn't screw up).

I think Jeff will be great as the "Ernie Johnson" while Cynthia plays "Kenny Smith!"

As far as the look, it will be a lot better once they go back into a studio on a set. I loved the set when it was at 20, real slick.
With the new logo and all, I'm sure it will be all redone.

Tim, is the set going to be at 51 or in the new arena? Just curious? Also I heard that the arena will have a full control room for the half-time/post-game shows?

    My feelings exactly!

    __________

As long as Bill & Calvin are doing the games then we won't be unhappy, but were gonna miss the way she would always smile whether we were up by 5 points or down by 20.:D

Let's just keep up the comic relief with Calvin's colorful commentary and his suits.

I don't know about you guys, but Channel 51 dont show too well on my TV and I'm suppose to have TIME WARNER DIGITAL CABLE.

Air Bull would be my choice as well. Bull even makes the radio broadcast of the Comets halfway tolerable.

I was about to post the statement below, but bobblehead beat me to it:

I think it will be more like Haggadorn's EJ to Cooper's Kenny Smith.

Cooper isn't even in the same league as Sir Charles in on-air presense.

After all, it is Jeff Haggadorn who will take Malosky's job. Cooper
is just added as an additional colorful commentator for the show.

I am just curious why Rockets prefer Haggadorn+Cooper combination over Malosky+Cooper. Two ladies together
may make a better show, IMO.

This really stinks! Why bring in Cooper ? What does she offer to the value of our entertainment? That is aside from amusement with her diction problems with the english language.
Lisa has given a lot to this organization in the past years. She has made a lot of sacrifices , with a small child at home with the extensive travel the job demands.
Wiht Cooper here now the half time show really wiill be the time to start channel surfing.
BRING BACK LISA!!! Call or write the Rockets. Let your voice be heard.

This is ridiculous to be so judgmental so quickly. Lisa was fine, but I agree that it's time for something fresh. No amount of letters or phone calls will change anything. Give the woman a chance!

    1) What is the deal with Rockets' broadcasts and fuglies? I am not one to advocate eye candy a la Fox sports, but on the other hand I'd like to be able to eat during broadcasts...

    2) RIP deanbcurtis' heart....:(
