Look at all the great teams in NBA history (apart from the super friends coming together)...they've all been teams that have placed a big emphasis on the organization and development from the ground up. There was none of this lift my skirts up for the next big FA.

The two best teams in the NBA today have been doing that for a while. Sure they added a FA here and there to fine tune, but their core was developed by the FO. The rockets take the lazy shortcut.

LOL. How have the perennial bottom dwellers of the last 5 years been doing from the ground up in the draft?

People seriously underestimate the amount of luck the two best teams in the NBA had in building their teams. If SAS and GSW were that easily replicable then it would have happened several times in the last 15 or so years.

It's not about taking a lazy shortcut, it's about playing the hand your dealt which can always use a little.

Can someone actually post a link to the bolded conservation Morey had. I have a hard time believing that Morey thinks coaching doesn't make a difference but it has become gospel here.

The Warriors have one championship in 40 freaking years some of these guys are to caught in the moment.

Cool the got lucky and drafted curry/thompson/green.

If they are such a good team why didn't they draft guys that good the prior 35 years when they were in the lottery all but what maybe 2-3 times????

And the Spurs ya they drafted Duncan a top 10 player off all time same with the Lakers and kobe they both got lucky as did we with Hakeem. Those type of players are rare and universally seen as top 15 players in the history of the game.

It's cool to be the Warriors now but I don't see see anyone that was saying what a great run franchise they were untill about 4 years ago when you could see they were going to be a pretty good team. Although I don't think anyone thought they would be this good.

The rockets got to go and try and get durant. Harden is insanely good and can do things not even curry can. I have held this opinion for a long time and I still do. When harden is on he's the best player in the NBA and the closet thing we've seen to LeBron James. Both guys are stat stuffers that make the winning right play almost everytime. They really do make there teamates better and get them open looks. Harden is the mch better shooter and Lebron is better on defense and around the hoop. But from a pure playmaking ability I think there the only two guys that can make that cross court pass to open shooters over 5 defenders. It's amazing iv never seen two guys make that play over and over again look so effortless.

Harden is the only superstar in the NBA that doesnt play with another Allstar/superstar player. The fact that he's won almost 200 games in 4 years here and has a WCF appearance is pretty remarkable when you look at the talent he's played with and went against.

Get him durant and I think harden can take us to the promise land I really do. I think this guy is special and can be an alltime great. Gotta win some championships to do that but every great player including Jordan had HoF Teammates.

Harden and durnat with the team we have now might be good enough because kd can push harden to focus all the time and as we have all seen a focused harden is unstopable.

    Bev/harden/durant/ariza/capela/beasley/KJ/goudelock/Harrell/deker/FA/FA

Morey has actually made some smart moves to position is with the ability to sign durant have a very very strong 10 player team with about 20 million to sign one big name guy or 2 quality players and that's after signing durant.

I think MOREY and the orginization know something we don't. Because the moves they have made and the signings off beasley/drew with minimum contracts for next year is huge especailly when you see that beasley is more than good enough to be a top 5 reserve in the league and goudelock looks like a guy who is Tailor made for the way the NBA is played now with his shooting and hustle plays.

Get durant and bring thibs along and maybe sign jokim Noah and dmo back of go after Horford. I think I lean more towards the Noah/DMO rout. Noah is a great passer and has played for thibs is a good defender and leader and if healthy is one of the better centers in the NBA. He's like a bogut type center and then we can really play the way morey and the team want to with read and react plays with a lot of 3s.

I really think that team could be one of the top 3 teams if not the best team in the league.

What do you guys think? Bring in durant/Noah and resign Dmo? Does that put the rockets over the top?

The Spurs have won 5 championships since we won the second of our two championships. Just reminding you.

Agreed. Turning the ball over at a record breaking pace being chief amongst them.

What's your point, though? I don't think the Spurs being more successful than the Rockets has slipped anybody's mind.

FWIW, I've heard Morey say that having elite three point shooters really doesn't make that much of a difference. Even when you shoot a lot of threes.

So if someone were to tell me that Morey said water isn't wet, I wouldn't be surprised if he has some foolish algorithm that tells him as much.

Camaraderie means a lot to Durant - he would relish continuing his career with players who are also his close friends, and with Harden and Beasley being on this team, coupled with the strong possibility that Dwight will be gone, I'm betting he feels a lot stronger about Houston than some might think. He might even be able to lure Westbrook here.

That harden what if's got me thinkin. I just hope its in Houston not in OKC. We will start a rivalry against them for sure. But it would just be the oklahomans annoyed like cleveland that we stole their team.
If harden westy and durant end up on same team i would be so happy. Its better than lebron or kg coming home or dwight going home to orlando. This is exciting. Kd in 2016, westy in 2017.

    1) sign Durant to max
    2) sign pau to big one year deal
    3) trade brewer
Roll with capela/pau/durant/harden/bev w ariza, montrez, kj, beasely
And roster fill 1 yr contracts

    4) Next year still have max space for one more free agent, westbrook
    5) still have young core and rights to pau

    2018 champions
    Capela/pau/durant/harden/westbrook

If Durant and Westbrook are making a decision to team up elsewhere, then that lends even more credence to the idea that Durant returns to OKC on a 1 year deal to coincide with Westbrook's free agency.
