So LeBron and Durant to LA? I don't see that happening but that is the only way I see Durant going to LA considering their roster. Durant and Miami is an interesting option. I feel Miami is right there with Houston as a destination for Durant with a team that is in "win now" mode with vets. Riley gets things done. Infuriates me!
I'd be willing to bet the reason players don't want to sign with the Rockets is Dwight. Not his fault or the organizations, just poor media treatment.
I think the more enticing thing to getting Durant here is the fact that he can select his coach more so than playing with Harden. Durant wants and deserves full control.
Here's a fun scenario: Durant decides to join the Rockets. Durant and Westbrook tell Presti he should trade Westbrook to Houston or Westbrook will walk to Houston the following summer and in the meantime refuse to sign an extension with any other team. I know, I know. Just let me dream.
To be fair, what players exactly are you talking about here? Bosh, Carmelo, LMA, Lowry? There's plenty of reasons you can point to way before Dwight Bosh = stay in Miami, get paid the most Melo = stay in NYC LMA = he chose a better option, plain and simple Lowry = there wasn't the full court press there could have been, he is loved and respected in Toronto like he would never have been elsewhere. He chose the best option for him. I don't see Dwight on this team next year... well at least not at a huge contract... so it doesn't really matter at this point, but just pointing that out I've seen others mention this. Is there something to point to that mentions Durant wanting this Lebron like control? Moreover, didn't he just go through a process of selecting a new coach in OKC? Maybe he didn't have quite the level of control he wanted, but you've got to assume OKC management consulted with him... A LOT... before hiring Donovan. Oh, and finally, you'd think players would start to realize that the 100% in control, player/GM/coach thing doesn't work. Strong relationships where each party is performing their role is what works. San Antonio. LA. Golden State. Etc. Nobody in those organizations at GM/Coach levels feel "threatened" in the way those in Cleveland probably do. Plus, when Lebron didn't have that control... he won.
I don't think Miami is all that attractive with Bosh's health and a aging Wade. Riley deserves little credit for the big 3 ,they all decided to play together before Riley even knew . His best free-agent signing is probably Joe Johnson .
I don't necessarily think he wants full control. I just think he would prefer a situation where he can have a say in what coach he plays for rather than going into a place where he may not like the particular coach. I agree about the 100% control thing. Durant is smart enough to realize that, he's just also smart enough to realize that often times, the right coach can make very good teams great teams.
I was referring to some of those guys, yeah. Kevin Love was another one as well. Melo stayed in NYC for money and his wife, imo. Bosh should've come over. Lowry, I understand why he stayed. You have to think though that Dwight's rep is at least somewhat a reason why certain FA's/trade targets wouldn't want to be dealt here.
If you're Dorrell Maori and you get a call from KD's people saying, "Our guy would love to play in H-Town with Beard, but not if Howard's there," do you let Dwight walk? I do, without a second thought. If Dwight opts out, he gives up any claim to this really being his preferred team.
He is in his prime years now but to say there's not going to be a significant improvement offensively is just plain wrong. There's absolutely zero reason he cannot shoot 40% from downtown next year. He needs to be more consistent on his jumper. That's the final thing missing. If he has an uber consistent year from three, a 46/40/88 year on 28ppg is not unrealistic at all.
It's actually not wrong. It's actually called reality and law of averages. Guys like klay and korver who are clearly better shooters are 40% shooters. Harden is pretty much settled right where he's at. A notch below. Again there isn't going to be some significant improvement offensively.
He never did that in any season of his career so far, what makes you believing that he will next season?
His last year in OKC he shot 48/39 I think those numbers are attainable he's been around 37% in his time in Houston and if you throw out his first month he's prob shooting 46/38. I don't know if he can get to 50/40/90 status. It he can be 47-48% and 37-40% on 3s no problem imo. With better help he will get those avg I think.
Lol delusional harden fans. Look I get people have hope for him to get better but He is not going to avg 40% over the course of a full season from 3. He is just not that at that level as a shooter. I guess people are just spoiled by great shooters like Steph and klay who avg that easily. That's just not going to happen for JH. Anyone who truly believes he can reach that I'll gladly accept a tip jar bet. That's easy money to me
