That is incorrect according to Larry Coons FAQ. However, I was some what incorrect as well. Only a portion of the difference reduces the players original team (Pistons in this case) salary. So in this case, the difference we can offer via BAE vs. Vets minimum would be $621,759
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=9415681&highlight=Josh+smith#post9415681 Yeah it was benchmoochie. It wasn't 100% confirmed by him but it would be odd for Smith to randomly be in Houston days before this announcement without a reason imp. You would think there were some quiet negotiations taking place.
Yeah it was mentioned by cyberx earlier. He didn't say he had knowledge of his career being in jeopardy but he was saying no one is willing to trade for TJones with this injury he has. His season being in jeopardy seems somewhat likely at this point but you never know with nerves. They can spontaneously regenerate.
since this is the official trash talk thread... does anybody remember the name of that guy who predicted the outcome of games here on clutchfans and had a good streak? just out of curiosity...
Picking up Josh Smith for the BAE is a no-brainer, he could make us legit title contenders. And of course he would start, he would basically be a much better version of Jones, the ability to create off the dribble and very good at the rim. Good rebounder as well. If Jones ever gets back we'd be extremely deep. Howard/DMo Smith/Jones Ariza/KPap Harden/Brewer Beverley/Terry Now we'd be ever better with the DMo/Dragic rumored trade. All of this is still a long way off though so don't get too excited.
CyberX has said that for a week or so now. But that's not the impression I got from him. He even stated that teams wouldn't trade, because they didn't know the severity of the condition. Doesn't mean T Jones condition isn't career ending. I just don't buy it.
Has anybody's career ended from getting a knee to the thigh? I don't think this is a career-ending injury. His nerve will wake up and he'll be fine.
Boston - they have smart. That's why they let rondo go Lakers - they only have our pick to trade. Kings - they don't have the picks either
Never in a million years would it be Capela. We JUST drafted him. The only option that makes any kind of sense is Dorsey. Black has shown that he belongs, and has done some nice things in Dwight's absence.
Bev/Canaan/Shved/Johnson Harden/Jet Ariza/Brewer/KPap DMo/TJ Dwight/Black/Dorsey/Capela That's 15 roster spots. To add Smith, who would we cut?
Just a week ago, if you post here that this team needs Josh Smith to start over Dmo, you will probably be banned. Now people not only talking about trading Dmo away, but also saying TJ probably could have a career ending injury? Awesome.
Just before the beginning of the season, I seem to recall someone (Bima maybe?) saying that Morey was saving the BAE just on the off chance that someone was waived, and it would give us the most money to offer. Major Props.
