I think it is quite clear that Rondo lacks the value of a guaranteed lottery pick. If he was, the deal would already be done.
Boston gets the ghost of Steve Nash, T Jones, 1st Rounder from Lin trade LA gets Rondo Houston gets Olynyk Houston uses TPE on Brandon Bass and sends Boston the NYK 2nd Rounder
Morey's playing some high freaking stakes poker... Dallas: Cuban is totally hell bent in preventing Houston at all costs from acquiring their third star. His cost, sacrifice youth and bench, to acquire a really terrific PG. Getting Rondo instantly makes Dallas a top team in the West. Boston: Celtics are using Dallas to get Houston to up their offer. Ainge actually is really worried he may not get any return for Rondo by February. Hence why he is trying to drum up value for Rondo and hope someone will overpay for him now. Houston: Losing out on Rondo would be difficult for Morey, but that still wont prevent him from being able to nab a PG from PHX by February. The biggest issue is what will be PHX asking price, and will it be too much for the Rockets??? If the Mavericks are essentially out of the February picture financially, will Morey be able to build on the pieces we have? Sometimes people have to take enormous risks, and I surely would love Rondo to be here in Houston. But if it jeopardizes our team's future and current depth, I think I would just wait.
Dream on. A lot of people failed to see this clear picture : - in this coming summer, the Rockets need to spend to match Bev's contract (most likely will be 6-8 mil range) - in next summer, the Rockets will choose at least one of TJ /DMo to match their contract, at the current development rate and market expectation, most likely the Rockets will need to spend aound 10 mils on one of them. So, this NOP pick will become more and more important. Because you will need some cheap young blood to fill out your rotation and eventually to be a starter or solid backup. A mid round draft pick for a contender is a gold mine. The Rockets need this pick as much as anyone else. Unless this pick can help us to land a surefire 3rd star, Morey is not ready to let go of it.
Just my own thoughts/opinion but I think Bev is a goner unless he signs a very friendly contract (e.g. $5 mill a year).
NOP pick will not be mid-round with the way the West playoff race is shaping up. They'll get a late lottery pick.
That last Woj tweet about Rondo's value doesn't help Ainge....so why would he tweet out a string of tweets as a favor to him and then end it with that bomb? Sounds like he's putting in work for someone else..
#CyberSoonBombCloseFluidBeWellIt'sHappeningSaucesIt'sLikeClubbingBabySeals Totally agree with your post! I have zero interest as well! Dang, I'm going to miss Th Colbert Report... ....... ....... .......
Well, very, very little chance to have Asik staying in the Rockets after Dwight signed his contract 1 year ago.
