These are the draft picks Boston currently holds: If Danny Ainge wants more picks (which is the best currency he can get, IMO, for Rondo) then he sure as hell hope he can cash them out for a Carmelo Anthony or a Chris Bosh later on.
Ainge is pushing to get Randle included in Lakers package and it's a go. I don't think it will happen.
I'd much rather have Jones and a lottery pick from NOLA than multiple late firsts from the Laker's and Randle. As a C's fan I believe that the ball is still in Houston's court.
^ yep. I've wondered that all along. Same with Phoenix. When is too many picks too many, when can you tell when there is a team that isn't a draft pick buyer because of this, and does it hurt market value of your own picks in trades when there are teams like this that are sitting there with far too many picks to offer in a competing deal? That was kind of my concern all along with everyone thinking the NOP pick was going to be some silver bullet. I'm not really sure that draft picks are all that big of a deal for Boston and Phoenix. A Young talent you can build around with potential seems to be a bigger draw for teams like this. Especially if its a big man. Enter Donatas Motiejunas' recent play for reference. Sorry guys but I think Ainge's draw here might not be for Morey to necessarily include the NOP pick. It might be that he's trying hard to get D-Mo. D-Mo, Julius Randle, or Ben Macklemore. I think this is the motivation for Ainge at this point. I need to get me one of these guys in a deal.
No thanks Jones has some funky nerve damage, Im staying away from that. Ainge really liked Randle around the draft.
2015 first round draft pick from Philadelphia Philadelphia's 2015 1st round pick to Boston (via Miami) protected for selections 1-14; if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Philadelphia will instead convey its 2015 2nd round pick and 2016 2nd round pick to Boston [Miami-Philadelphia, 6/28/2012 then Boston-Golden State-Miami, 1/15/2014] That's according to RealGm.
What if we Take Wright instead of Rondo ? maybe The NY 2nd round + Jones. Do a three way team trade Dallas get Rondo Hou gets Wright and Bos get Picks and Player
I think you're pretty close here. But.....look at what Dallas and allegedly the Lakers have to offer. Unless Lakers offer up Randle.....their picks are seconds and our 2015 first rounder. The only other first rounder they have available for trade is their 2019 first rounder. And Dallas??? Their first round picks have no more value than our own future first round picks. So I see no reason to throw in the Pels pick for Rondo unless we really think Rondo is the last piece and we have to trump a better deal. I would think JET/Kostas/Canaan/Johnson plus a couple future first round picks (2016 and 2018) for Rondo/Powell/Pressey/Bass followed by Kostas/Capella for Thornton at most would trump anything Dallas could throw up there for Rondo.....unless Boston is planning on making Wright the future (and current) starting center to their rebuild. And I would think that package of assets would trump anything the Lakers could throw up there unless they include Randle in the deal. IOW, we can trump LAL and DAL without giving up the Pels pick....unless Ainge values Wright highly or LAL throws in Randle.
