Yeah but we're not exactly talking about trading for someone the caliber of Pau in his prime though. The most comparable person would be LMA....and we're not getting LMA. Another big difference is that the Lakers did that because they were an aging squad trying to make one last run before it all fell apart, that's not where the Rockets are. When you are a young team like the Rockets, you keep the young talent and look for a 5 or 6 year window, not a 1 or 2 year window.
Bobbythegreat we don't have that long. Howard wants to win now and not later. They brought him here to help him and the franchise to win his 1st and our 3rd. His window is 2-3 years bro. That's why Morey went in hard for Bosh this off season.
Suns just lost another heartbreaker. Maybe their sadness will push them over the edge of desparation.
Dragic puts us over the top of everybody in the West. Plus a second playmaker without chemistry issues.
So, imagine Dragic as a spot up shooter for every minute that Harden is on the court. Difficult to do? You bet. That is not who Dragic is. And I would wager that Morey has the same issue.
I think that problem is outweighed by the benefit of having a perimeter creator for the 10-12 mins harden is on the bench and insurance in case harden has to miss extended minutes. I'm good with an acquisition of dragic if we don't have to give up any primary rotation players. Dragic and bev gives us the same type of versatility to create matchup problems as Dmo and jones would at the 4.
Dragic or Bledsoe is looking more and more likely. They are regressing at a ridiculous pace back to their talent level. My personal preference is TE+NO pick for Dragic, adding Canaan or a 2nd rounder to sweeten the deal if necessary. If they ask for DMo, I would be willing to do something like DMo + our 2017 pick for Dragic and Plumlee. Just to have an extra big body in there.
If we got Dragic I would play Harden less minutes than that. With Dragic, Harden should play 34-35 minutes most nights. Not the 38-39 he plays currently.
The first part of your post sounds good to me, the second part doesn't. D-Mo is developing into an all round player, who is starting to fit in with Dwight.
Let me make a bold and completely obvious prediction here. No Dragic. If Morey makes a trade it will not be until close to the trade deadline. And he will not be position specific. The only thing that will matter to Morey is how deeply discounted a player is. I am positive that prediction is much better than anything you are going to read from Cyberx or anyone like him.
Seeing as how Phoenix has LA's pick, as well as its own, I doubt they're too interested in the NOLA pick.
I doubt that plays a factor. What team wouldn't want a lottery pick? Hell, then they could package up a couple to move up.
We are all over the place on DMo's value, it's hilarious. Also, it's not uncommon at all for (pseudo) blockbuster trades to involve more than 2 teams, so imagining what Phoenix wants from our pool of assets might be a futile effort.
I love DMo. I followed him since he was projected to be a lottery pick when he was 19(?). But DMo doesn’t solve the glaring Rockets issue that is a secondary playmaker. Now, I will grant you that the Rockets may be able to grab that player without DMo, but I don’t think they can get someone the caliber of Dragic. If we take out DMo, the type of player we’re probably looking at is more Jeff Green caliber.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. He's definitely shot well from 3 the last year and change, and he is more than capable of taking a Harden dish and punishing defenders who close out too hard by getting to the rim himself. I'd like to think Harden could play off of him similarly, but I'm worried about what happened last year with Lin. Obviously Dragic is a better player than Lin, but their games are similar and not ideal complements to Harden's ball dominant ways. Especially with DMo thriving and Dwight needing some touches, I'm not sure there would be enough ball to go around, and the offense may suffer. However winning cures everything and guys could buy in/adjust their games. With that said, if the deal is right you have to pull the trigger. The kid is too talented.
