Exactly. Orlando isn't trading Harris for TJones and scraps. Always amazed at how much this board overvalues our 'assets'.
Wow, since when did teams toss out high quality players because they aren't stars and are about to be paid? The Harden trade was an exception not the norm, and look how poorly that turned out. Additionally, TJ is going to be paid, I believe in the same year, so why the hell would the Magic trade a guy because he's about to get paid for a guy that's also about to get paid? Jopat, you are so friggin stubborn, and everybody here is now dumber for reading the junk you post.
It always happens. Harris - D-Mo, Canaan, NOP pick, and two or three second rounders might get them to start talking.
I was thinking Jones/Motiejunas, Canaan/Bev/Terry, Johnson/Capela/Papa, and a second rounder for a Harris package. I'd love to just give up Jones, Johnson and a pick, but I'm sure Orlando could do better. Not sure why Harris would be available in the first place, but he's a rebuilding framchise's dream: talented young potential who is contributing now at a high level.
Lost a lot of faith in Dwight s offensive game this year...no real improvement. His game needs a jumpshot in the worst way. So I'm not sure there's a a star out there, who's available, and good enough to make up for Dwight AND still bring in something else. Best option is to bring in depth, as long as they're basketball players, not specialists.
Tobias Harris probably does get max money or close to it. Advanced stats like Harris but they do not love him. My guess is that Orlando overvalues him. Daryl Morey does not overpay for talent. Terrence Jones + Clint Capela + picks = insane overpay. Advanced stats love Terrence Jones. Plus, he is hurt, which deflates his trade value. You are selling him for fifteen cents on the dollar if you trade him right now. Also, look at Harris' three-point percentage last season. 25.4%. Not good! Houston probably needs to pass on this guy. If you can trade l, say, a Donatas Motiejunas-Nick Johnson package for Harris, sure, but Orlando's asking price will be much higher. Doc Rocket is right about John Henson, though. Go get that guy! Milwaukee is committed to other bigs and don't know what they've got in Henson. Advanced stats love John Henson and Morey historically targets players who he considers undervalued, that is, players who are loved by advanced stats but not by their own team or the market in general. Players like John Henson.
Tobias Harris is who we're talking about now???? Man...this thread consistently delivers. Just random names and seeing what sticks.
Stop being so sensitive. Nothing here was racist. I am just pointing out the obvious. Sorry, if I am possibly still sour about the idiots in Ferguson.
Harris is a solid player. Orlando has a wide variety of talented young players from Fournier, Harris and Vucevic. Then you add in Payton and Gordon to the mix and that's their starting 5. Payton(20)/Fournier(22)/Harris(22)/Gordon(19)/Vuvevic(24) Lock up both Harris and Vucevic would be the correct move for Robby. Their bench also has a good share of young players who looked promising, but right now it looks like they're journeymen at best. (Harkless & Nicholson) I'm not sure what they're going to do with the Oladipo/Fournier situation. Currently they're starting next to each other with Payton taking the bench, but both 'Dipo and Fournier are SGs. Yeah, 'Dipo can play some 1, but he's better as a 2 guard. A trade for Frye would be great, but his contract is long which likely means he's in the long haul there to mentor his younger cousin Tobias Harris. I think there is no trade in the works with the Magic. That team is going to be good, and there's no reason to break up that squad. DM called them, but he calls every GM and asks about every player. I can definitely see him going after Henson though which he should immediately do. Young, big player on a rookie contract that is millions of times better than Black or Dorsey. I'm just not sure we would have anything they would want because let's be honest guys. Our trade chips just aren't amazing.
Other teams will increasingly start to operate like Morey does. Before proposing a trade, it would be wise to ask whether or not Morey would accept it as the opposing team's GM. If posters did this it would likely cut down on the garbage acquisition scenarios proposed here.
i don't have an opinion one way or the other on this guy's credibility, but it's obvious DMo's trade value jumped a bit last night. I like the idea of keeping him as our only real post threat (sorry Dwight) and offense off the bench. But it's nice to think that if we do trade him we will get something more in line with his true value ie a legit big who has learned to defend and rebound his position, has above average passing, and above average post moves.
Our biggest need is a backup big, DMO from what i can tell is a pretty good backup big. I really hope we dont trade him.
