Glad we could beat Portland in this theory. I'm sure Brandon Bass would have been the difference maker against the Spurs, Heat etc... No way Celts would have given up a pick with those protections.
NO - It wouldnt be straight up - maybe something would have to happen with a 3 team? I do not know. I just know Morey contacted the Knicks. Problem is Knicks dont want to add salary beyond this year.
Why not just acquire an expiring PF that can fit under the TPE? Bass and Arthur could both make sense. They fill a need now and can be dealt again in a bigger deal at the deadline.
Gallo has two years left on his deal. There is some risk there if he never recovers from injury, and the bad news is if he recovers from his injury woes before the Rockets would theoretically trade for him, his price probably goes through the roof. He does fit the profile though of an idea 3rd scoring option if healthy, and is very versatile. Kind of what alot of people hope Papanikolaou can become offensively. Defensively probably guards 3's better than 4's & 5's. Good player, but just need to see if he's going to ever be the same player again. Honestly I'd say Morey's opportunity to get him will be before we ever know that for sure, and its going to have to be a bit of a buy low risk/high reward move that might not work out, but you have to take the shot I guess.
Thanks for the info. I'd think the Knicks would like to hold onto Bargs as an expiring contract and have him off of the books like you had mentioned.
Ohhh.... geez. Huge difference there in player. No thank you. So I'm guessing the report earlier from Progs isn't correct?
Well, one year contract on Bargainani so it could make sense. Even if he totally flops at least he won't hurt future cap situation.
This is my train of thought. And he isn't a total bust from midrange so he could help space the floor. Maybe he could even hit some corner treys.
At his salary you're looking at trading away better assets/players than what he could bring to this team. $11 million is hard to scrounge up when the highest paid players after Howard and Harden are Terry and Papa, both IMO are better for this team than Bargs.
This why I am thinking Morey should convert the $8.4M exception he got for Lin into a player making roughly that much money. A player's salary, unlike the exception, is subject to the 150% rule and, after 60 days, can be combined with other salaries in a trade. This way, you can take a Bargnani-sized salary, or a larger one, without sending out both Kostas and Terry.
