LOL Morey isn't trading for Deron Williams and that contract. You think Morey declined Parsons offer sheet so he can maintain cap flexibility to use on Deron Williams? This thread is absurd...
I think last year at the deadline morey was considering it but got scared because he couldn't assess the players injury. And/or the asking price was too high.
I will gladly eat crow if it happens, but I don't think there's even a chance it will. Morey probably would take him if he can get him for pure scraps, but he isn't giving up real assets for maybe the worst contract in the NBA.
He isn't always right. Anyway I'm not advocating Dwill. Probably just a contingency plan, a Plan D or E.
Oh. This was what I was referring to btw. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=9228355&postcount=10140 Doesn't matter, don't think we're getting Deron either way. It's dumb. Haha
Guys the Rockets aren't trading for anyone on a true max salary. Not without at least one or two moves being made prior to get the Rockets more salary in fewer roster spots. What the Jim Jones believers aren't realizing is that even if Morey was willing to package 6 or 7 players to get a player like DWill, there are other trade rules they are not considering such as Maximum Roster spot rules. The Nets can't just take on 6 Rocket players and only give one back. What the "believers" are suggesting will happen technically can happen, but not without some symptoms showing up first. So far the only symptom I see is the Terry trade with its contract and picks, but that's only a symptom for a deal that can bring in a mid sized contract in the 8 to 12 mil range. I see a deal getting done at the dealine for a good player, but I would temper your expectations and use some common sense with some of these rumors.
Hard to really blame them. These insiders like Drew and Plowman constantly declared something would definitely happen over the summer, so some are still clinging to that belief, I guess.
Please stop with the Rubio nonsense. The season is starting and we already have a PG that can do everything but score at vet minimum. Why pay more?
No. While Wolverine is a primo defender and can knock down the three at an acceptable clip, he is not a guy that possesses great vision. He doesn't have the passing ability to find Harden in space...or Dwight at that precise moment with his man sealed. With Rubio ...or Rondo you'll see a cohesive flow out there, that really good PG's bring.... transcending many of the things being thrown around against him. He would make this team so much better.....and he IS a good defensive player. Don't get me wrong, I love Pat, what he brings to the table, and his story.. but he has his limitations.
I was under the impression that he was referring to Ish Smith who is kind of a homeless man's version of Rubio. Maybe I'm wrong though. Good handles, good vision, good passer, decent on defense, but not much of a threat offensively. Granted, Rubio does all those things even better and can at least knock down the occasional 3 pointer. After watching Ish Smith in this offense, I've actually been able to see the vision of what Rubio could bring and I think he would certainly have a positive impact on this team despite his limitations offensively. I wasn't able to see it before, but Ish made me a believer.
And Bev is set to get paid. Some team will over pay. Tjones, bev, mote, won't be in a rockets uni next year, this I'm confident about.
I hope you're wrong about Bev, but I think it is a lock that at least one or more of those guys will be traded before the year is over. If they can get Rubio somehow and keep Bev, they should do it. I like Beverly a lot and I think a Beverly and Rubio tandem at PG would be very good. Rubio brings a different dynamic to the team than Beverly with his ability to create for others.
I think we should extend bev..we have his bird rights so we should be able to convince him to take a short deal and prepare for the new cba..then Give him what he wants.
