Is D-Will a possibility - Dallas kid, considered washed up by many, won gold with USA? I wonder whether the news of the new TV deal, and the resulting cap increase to ~$80 MM in 2016/17, would lead to Morey reconsidering D-Will, not that I'm in any way remotely interested. I have no idea if we even have the $$ necessary to swing a deal for him prior to the start of the season.
C'mon man, what are the odds that OKC would trade a top players for Kevin Martin, a draft pick and some spare parts? ....oh waitaminute! .....maybe.. lol
Bud only have 2 years left on his contract is key. Novak is another option. For PF's Hayes and the man in the quandary aka CARL LANDRY.
>Rafer/Mike James time frame Steve Novak, Landry and Hayes were on the last team that had both Rafer and James
Steve Novak to me is a really smart move. Could be had very cheaply, likely a future 2nd. He is a low risk and a decent reward type of player. With our need and desire for a stretch 4 he could be really great off our bench. He's got a very manageable contract that doesn't hurt flexibility. Even if he flames out he could still be a valuable veteran of the bench.
If it's a non-star, we probably aren't committing money beyond the 2015-2016 season. The most logical PFs are: Paul Millsap Brandon Bass Kevin Garnett Mirza Teletovic Danilo Galinari JJ Hickson David Lee David West Jordan Hill Carlos Boozer Ersan Ilyasova (small guarantee in 2016-2017) Ryan Anderson Enes Kanter Nene Hilario
I highly doubt it. It's a low salary, and he'll be cap filler in the off-season, or easily traded as an expiring.
I like David West. Indiana will probably punt on this season if the aren't competitive (I see no reason why they would be. Now that PG and Stephenson are gone they have 0 playmakers). He can probably be had for the TE and 2nd round picks. He is a great pick n pop PF who sets hard screens and actually plays D. He is 34 years old but his game is aging well and I think his demeanor will help a lot of our young guys stay focused. Plus his contract ends summer 2016 keeping our flexibility intact.
