Theoretically, this is legal. According to a VERY knowledgeable source, this is not the case. Terry can be traded (by himself) immediately using regular salary-matching rules.
FWIW.... Plow, what's your thoughts on this, if any? http://www.azcentral.com/story/spor...suns-eric-bledsoe-agree-to-contract/16174127/ Bledsoe's contract brings concern for the Suns' ability to keep Goran Dragic when he likely opts out of his contract's final $7.5 million year to be an unrestricted free agent in July. "We don't have many long-term commitments," McDonough said. "We have every intention of keeping Goran in a Suns uniform as long as possible. We know he loves Phoenix. There's plenty of money for Goran next year or when it comes up. We fully anticipate taking care of him."
Drew is a guy who will put his life savings on 00 Green, I'm not going to go down the bull**** angle, just he goes all in at high risk.
Various news the Zoran is being chased by several NBA clubs, with Phoenix reported to be the front runner. Many places are speculating Goran wants to be on the same team as Zoran. Could it be possible we're one of the other teams chasing Zoran to give us an edge to get Goran? (with the excess of players we currently have to use as trade bait?)
So who would be a better fit alongside Bledsoe than Dragic that's attainable for the Suns? Last year the Suns were dominant with both Dragic and Bledsoe on the court, especially on the defensive end. Take a look HERE were the Suns starting lineup with Bledsoe and Dragic ranked in NetRtg and DefRtg amongst top-25 lineups in minutes played last year.
Alright, may be I was a little high on life there... How about, Beverly, Johnson, Powell and Terry (whenever that can happen). Plus two firsts (pellie's pick and a future rockets pick) and a second (or two) For Dragic, Marcus Morris and Alex Len Powell (ungaraunteed) gets cut, Terry reaches a buy out. Beverly probably gets an extension in the process. And the Suns keep Johnson as a promising prospect. Rockets get a young back up Center, great option off the bench in Morris and lock in to a starting five that feature Dragic, Harden, Ariza, and Howard.
Drew has stated who knew? CyberX is saying Morey is looking at players who want a contract extension but are not getting what they want... Someone also said it could be Harden part 2... from what I am reading it could very well be Reggie Jackson. If so I am definitely all for that. He would be amazing running the pg position here in Houston.
I can't knock them for wanting to keep Gogi and EB. But it's hard for to envision how two long term, expensive contracts at the same position (not to mention Isiah Thomas) helps them improve over where they were last year. It seems like they're in a position that we were in a couple of years ago where Morey used to say that we need our stars to improve and at least one role player to turn into an allstar in order to contend. So, perhaps they have the money to re-sign Gogi, but it will be interesting to see if he likes playing in that guard rotation and if he goes for comfort and money versus opting for a situation where he'll be in a better position to contend.
Rox are cheap...simple as that...if suns are willing to overpay to both players, it's their business. We shouldn't be bitter about it...
Maybe it's not the "insiders fault." It's more the other posters that run away with everything Morey wanted Bledsoe or dragic. Perhaps. That does not mean Phoenix wants to get rid of them. We have one good asset, the NO pick. That doesn't make us the team most desirable to trade with. Sure morey is chasing players due for extensions. What gm wouldn't target those players. It's looking like this is the team we're going into the season with. These insiders are either full of s*** or not being clear. Even when you're an insider you're only getting info from one end, it takes two to get a trade done.
But what flexibility does that give the Suns to improve? I disagree that the Rockets are cheap. They are smart about the cap and won't take salary that limits their ability to put them in a position to contend. Once they think they have a squad that can contend in their sight, I'm sure they're willing to put the necessary skin in the game. Remember, if we got Bosh we would have had 4 max-level guys on our squad.
