Agree 100%. Don't want Rubio at all. We don't have time to "hope" he develops or improves. The time to win with Dwight and Harden is NOW, over the next couple of years. Way too much uncertainty with Rubio. A few think he is or will be elite, many more think he's average or will be slightly above average. Count me in the second group.

We need to take out Jason Terry from this deal (can't be traded for 60 days), but we only need to match Rubio's incoming salary. Martin can be acquired for the Lin trade exception. The only players we would need to send out are TJones, Josh Powell and either Nick Johnson or Capela. Then flip Martin and the Pelicans' pick to Boston for Bass. Rubio / Beverly Harden / Terry Ariza / Kostas Bass / DMo Howard / DMo Barea doesn't need to be included, Phoenix would get TJones and a huge trade exception.
Terry CAN be traded immediately . . . by himself. (I've gotten confirmation on this from a very reliable source.) However, you're right that the Rockets wouldn't need Terry's salary to get Rubio. They could get it done with even just one of Jones/D-Mo/Capela (as the "salaried asset") and the (mostly) non-guaranteed contracts of Powell and Covington. Whether the Pelicans pick needs to be included is a matter of negotiation. I'm just talking about the cap math.
