There were some rumors about this beforehand, but that was when Morey had the Asik & Lin contracts to trade for Williams with. http://rockets.clutchfans.net/6726/report-nets-would-likely-deal-deron-williams-for-lin-asik/ However, right now there is literally no way Morey could trade for Williams without contracts to send over to match salaries. I'd please ask your source if that information is old or not.
Even then, he'd have to be packaged with Terry almost surely, and I'm pretty sure Terry can't be packaged with another player for some time... and thats AFTER the trade takes place which it doesn't seem like Morey is in a hurry to get done.
Oh so now its Deron WIlliams..... Why not just list all the available PG's out there. One is bound to happen sooner or later since it's clear Rockets are looking for a PG upgrade. Ain't no insider need to tell you that.
Isn't Kostas + Terry like 11+ million? If Morey wanted too, I think he could pull it off. If you asked for Plumlee and other role players via the Lin TPE, as compensation for taking on Williams you could round the roster out quite nicely. If you get Williams, you could even make him the sixth man and keep Beverley in the starting lineup. That would really help balance the lineup and add another playmaker/scoring threat.
Yeah I feel ya there. I wasn't very pleased to say the least when Morey decided not to match Parsons' contract. Not because the contract was great, but because he never had to make him a free agent to begin with. Morey is a poker player at the end of the day, and didn't walk away from the table when he was in good shape to walk away, and spend him chips on less risky maneuvers. Ultimately I do think that Morey will eventually settle on a core group but it does look like even though its not going to be a big fish, he's still going to make some tweeks here and there to bring in another solid player. However I don't THINK that means letting go of another core supporting piece (Bev, Jones, Ariza, etc.) since he has pieces to upgrade outside of that (Pelles pick, TPE, Terry contract, etc), but I could be wrong. I was wrong about Parsons.
http://rockets.clutchfans.net/6726/report-nets-would-likely-deal-deron-williams-for-lin-asik/ And this is before when the Rockets were just giving up Lin & Asik to get Williams. Now we would be giving up Ariza almost surely along with other players & assets.
Prob'ly a December trade (if there's any merit to this)? Terry's 5.8 + Papanikolau's 4.8 + Tjones (as long as we make good use of the trade exception and take back some good young players, of which the Nets might have....two? -ish?).
Perhaps that was what Drew was allegedly referring to. A risky move that may backfire, with Jones going out. That would be a very stupid thing to do. No need for a desperate move, Mr. Morey.
Just said Morey is looking at his progress from knee surgery - that is all. Morey has always had a man crush for him.
I don't see them giving up Ariza, but they could handle Deron's salary over the next three years if the new tv deal is completed quickly. I'm hearing once its finalized the cap could jump to $80 million at some point.
But won't Rox have Rondo by then? or Rubio? or Dragic? Or Bled? Sorry, but my personal #1 target is David West. He be the man this team requires most of all.
These crushes have let to many errors in our past. For example,Rudy T had a man crush on Glen Rice. He didn't realize that he was well past his prime. We can't afford any major mistakes.
