The whole point is Morey didn't expect the Harden trade to happen as most of us didn't. That's kind of the the whole point of this whole "insider" social experiment. If I recall, the trade package put together wasn't necessarily even meant to go after a young up and comer like Harden, but the targets were really for Dwight, (I think) Bynum (pre-sixers mess), Chris Paul, etc. to trade for them before they hit free agency the following Summer. The logical thing that everyone around the league expected to happen was for Presti to pick up the final year of Harden's deal, and make him a restricted free agent the following Summer where they could match. Nobody in their right might would have thought they would have traded him as quickly as they did, but they did Harden a solid by trading him before his deadline for a rookie to max extension. Everyone thought that if worse came to worst they would just amnesty or trade Perkins to keep Harden. The move didn't make logical sense until we later found out that it was A. Financial (even though it turned out to be debunked with the cap raising), and B. About their crazy love for Perkins (and the finances revolving around amnestying him). .............. Going into this year, its hard to see where a team like OKC in 2012 would make such a false step that the Rockets could pounce on. Morey can project all he wants for trade proposals to come down the pipe and materialize, but at the end of the day, the fate of his trade proposals are at the hands of another human being or 50 (some teams have WAY too many owners involved), that sometimes act illogically. My advice would be to root for Morey to keep managing his team the way he is in order to keep the team open for another illogical human decision to move a great player. When that decision finally happens, its Morey's job to have a package ready that is too good to pass up. That's about all he can do. So be PREPARED to go into the season with the group already in tact. As I said before, Morey or any GM wouldn't put together a team they aren't ready to go to battle with (for better or worse) so you probably shouldn't get your hopes up that there is some deal waiting to happen cause its about as predicable as any illogical human decision.. which is typically at random. (to be fair though... deadlines can help push sellers into selling. The Harden trade had an October 30th deadline for getting an extension done. Its just that this deadline really shouldn't have mattered much since they didn't really need a deadline to begin with. This year in looking at other "deadlines".... There really isn't much out there to see. Rondo at the trade deadline in February is about all I see)
I remember you came down to my seat at Gin Jar Jamboree to ask me who Doc Rocket was, and I wouldn't tell you. Good to see the burden of secrecy is now on your shoulders. cheers,,,welcome back!
great summary except you forgot to include how Drew made some deadline with "Saturday" and when that didn't happen everyone told him to GTFO
Can you at least confirm if said target is currently on the suns? Narrow it down to a) Dragic & Bledsoe or b) rondo & Rubio.....thanks in advance.
I was one of those members who didn't think a insider would come on here and give viable inside information. You have already stated the reason why. But I was wrong so now I appreciate what Cyberx and Plowman brings to the table.
What's up guys! Back home... I'll see if I get anything new this week. Hearing nothing on the Bled thing. Hope all is well
To everyone else: so who are we not talking about, because that's probably the most likely trade. A few "out of the blue" types: Trey Burke Enes Kanter Derrick Favors Danilo Galinari Ty Lawson Kenneth Faried (still consider this "out of the Blue") Mike Conley Nene Otto Porter Jr. Victor Oladipo Kemba Walker Cody Zeller Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Jeff Teague Al Horford (I know....very unlikely) John Henson George Hill Chris Copeland David West Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Greg Monroe Dion Waiters Tristan Thompson Jimmy Butler Tony Snell Taj Gibson Nikola Mirotic Amir Johnson Andrea Bargnani Shane Larkin Mizra Teletovic Kevin Garnett Kelly Olynyk Tyler Zeller
