Hmmmm Looks like the Rockets may have some competition..

Indiana Pacers, I'm told, have tried to engage Phoenix in trade talks for Goran Dragic, but teams have found no common deal ground.

Goran Dragic trade offer from Pacers included Roy*Hibbert http://t.co/87NrcV0R3j
— Valley of the Suns (@ValleyoftheSuns) August 10, 2014
The article here says the Suns were offered Hibbert and Copeland. I am willing to give Plowman the benefit of the doubt on this whole thing (Drew as well), even if nothing comes to pass. That said, the package offered by the Pacers was not scraps. Info passed along in this thread implied that it would take less than we thought to get this trade done. Lots of variables here, but on the surface it seems like a slight disconnect with our "sources" on that particular point. Again, there could be plenty of reasons the Suns passed, but I found it to be an interesting contrast to some of our perceptions.
Maybe the Suns don't want Hibbert because he plays slow and is now overpaid. The Suns want to run and Hibbert is not a good runner. They also probably saw how he has played recently. I'm not sure he has much value left.
They don't want an overpaid hibbert. Paul george and hibbert making max money doesn't get you over the top in the east. What chance would bledsoe and hibbert have in the west?
Bledsoe/Thomas/Ennis Green/Goodwin Tucker/Copeland/Warren Markieff/Marcus/Toliver Hibbert/Plumlee/Len Pretty good team, If healthy, I believe they would make the playoffs. Add a single max free agent next summer, I believe they could be back in a good place. They could, just keep Dragic and trade him else where, then sign Hibbert and another max player this upcoming offseason anyways (if he opts out)
Yea, that's one viable angle. I'm just not sure the entire league has given up on Hibbert after one crappy season.
Hibbert has a player option for 2015-16. It's his contract that's the problem. IF PHX moves Dragic it will be because they wanted front court help and didn't want to dish him out around $100 million on a new 5-year deal. Hibbert will have over $14 million next season with a player option of over $15 million for 2015-16. If they trade for him and he plays well...then he opts out and they've got the same problem staring them in the face with Hibbert that they had with Dragic. And if Hibbert comes in and sucks hind titty then he won't opt out and they're stuck with paying over $15 million for crap in 2015. Oh...and whoever said Hibbert isn't a fit there because he's a slow half-court plodder.....bingo.
