And how many of those outlets reported Harden to Houston before it happened? That's right 0. In fact, before it happened I told my friends that Harden would be a Rocket eventually and they thought I was crazy. C'Mon J.R. you're being too harsh on Plowman, who obviously is sticking with his statement. Enjoy the ride, this offseason has been a complete let down so far, and if Plow is right, it would change everything, let the people enjoy a glimmer of hope without being called lemmings until proven otherwise.
Well to be fair i don't recall the Rockets being mentioned in getting Harden it just sort of happened out of nowhere
Difference with Harden's trade is that it wasn't obvious - Phoenix has created a situation in having too many point guards and we have a dearth at that position and a trader at GM. I could say we are trying to trade for a Phoenix point guard because it's obvious we would at least look at it. The trade for Harden was out of the blue highway robbery. That's why no-one scooped it. (most scoops are just accurate predictions with risk to become semi-famous on clutchfans.)
Since this thread seems to be about throwing **** against a wall and seeing what sticks, I'm gonna throw out the idea of trading for Pablo Prigioni. Knicks are looking to move him. He's on a cheap 1yr contract and could be a nice backup veteran PG. Pass 1st PG with solid defense. Also has been sneaky good from 3 although a small sample (39.6% 2 seasons ago and 46.4% last season). Knicks are probavly just looking to clear cap space so maybe he could be had for just an expiring and protected 2nd round pick.
When you have a name so close to an already established name but a different letter/order (cannan vs canaan), it's actually fairly common to spell it wrong since our brains generally look at the first and last letter and fill in the blanks from memory when we read them, just look at how many people spell Dwyane Wade's name wrong despite him having been in the league over a decade.
Cannan vs Canaan is one thing, but Cannon makes this guy sound like he doesn't know what he's talking about: ... I suppose it could be an auto-correct issue; still, to me if you can't correctly spell the guy's name who you are talking about, then it calls into question your credibility as a knowledgeable source, IMHO.
Even though I tend to side with you in terms of the likelihood of this being true, as someone who breaks every single news here you should understand that there's a difference between free agency and trades. NOBODY breaks Rockets trade. The Rockets play things close to the vest as much as any team in the NBA. Lots of misdirection, rumors, and never are they correct. Not even as an accident. Asik was rumored to everywhere but NO. Lin was rumored to everywhere but LA. Harden traded was literally out of nowhere. Try to find the last time Woj or anyone else speculated correctly on a major Rockets move that doesn't involve agents leaking stuff to drive up the price for their players. The Rockets are among the best at making sure the media knows nothing about their trade plans. Every time any source, Cyberx or the national media, "leaks" something about the Rockets trade plans, whether it be Rondo or Asik or anyone else, it never plays out the way they report.
Things are leaked because a party has a vested interest in it being leaked. Very little is stuff they don't want known, I don't believe for even 1 second that cyberx has told us things that aren't cool to be shared by the higher ups, and neither should anyone else. Klay Thompson not being in the trade package, who would leak that? Golden State, why? trade had died, and to make it look like he wasn't being traded, should you believe it? only in a package with the Golden Gate bridge. Love? who would leak that? his people, why? force Minny's hand, he's valuable enough where it doesn't really impact his trade value at all (which applies to like 15 guys in the nba total, which is because their value is so high that the offers never end up being depressed enough by the b****ing) So who would gain to benefit from leaking a trade involving Dragic? Phoenix? obviously not, it would greatly weaken their bargaining position with Bledsoe or in case of breakdown that they go the other way. Phoenix's trade partners? well not if they want to do business with Phoenix Dragic? Non superstars run into that issue with GMs sitting on their hands when a player depresses his own trade value. Which is why most trades go down without leaks, because in most cases there's nothing to be gained from the leaks. Note I'm not saying any such a trade is going down, i'm just pointing out how counter intuitive it is for a leaked source to validate it is.
If the thread is locked, we will not be able to have comedy gems like that one.... that ish was funny... lmao... kudos for good wit!
