Good observation... There needs to be more coverage from ESPN about this...it's Gonna be a long process. .. Paul would be a great fit here..
No way in hell we would be able to afford Chris Paul, every team in the nba will be all over him lol. Jamal Crawford on the other hand is right in our alley.
Phoenix lose all its bargaining power with Bledsoe if they trade Dragic right now. Their best case scenario is to re-sign Bledsoe at the lowest possible price, then seek out the highest bidder for Dragic afterwards.
I guess I'll ask this here...why hasn't there been much talk, if any, of Cuban possibly tampering with Chandler? Simply because no one saw anything?
I'm also baffled by this. There are absolutely no reports of this happening, and no logic which dictates that the Suns would have any interest in the Rockets as a trading partner. Our most valuable asset is a first round pick - and Phoenix already has 3 of those next summer. Why do people seem to be waiting on something on this front? Is this the post traumatic stress of striking out on big FA's taking its toll on the fan base?
What I don't understand is why would a NBA franchise want more then 3 first round picks next summer. This above comment completely ignores ALL the possible outcomes of having a first round pick. I bet if you asked Morey if he would like 3-4 first round picks in the next draft he would say an overwhelming YES. He could combine them for a higher pick, trade them for a player (see what got Denver Afflalo this summer?), combine them with a player for a BETTER player. The ignorance on this board sometimes is unfathomable. Honestly, if Phoenix knows that Dragic is walking out the door next summer and that they don't want to have to offer him max money to stay along with the money committed to a resigned Bledsoe AND Isaiah Thomas, then them trading him isn't all that unrealistic. The market for Dragic would be fairly small due to the glut of point guards in the league, teams with assets to trade for him (like a trade exception and picks/players rights) and a team willing to give up assets without reassurances that he will resign (most likely contending teams willing to give him the max). Honestly, take all the above factors above and tell me the teams that would make a deal? All this puts Phoenix in a position to get what they can for Dragic or let him walk for nothing or next to nothing in a possible sign and trade. With all the teams with potential max cap room next summer the risk is too great, especially for a team that will be stacked at the PG position. I see Dragic getting traded before the trade deadline, and most probably before the season starts. All this hinges on Bledsoe getting resigned (which is HIGHLY probable due to the lack of current cap space for more teams to give him an offer sheet). The current hold up I think with the discussed deal is Bledsoe. He needs to be resigned first, then the dominoes will fall. In summary, can people please stop rulling this out JUST because of the fact Phoenix already has 3 draft picks in the 2015 draft, it's absurd.
Honestly, we have little to offer them. Even if Bledsoe gets "overpaid", they can sign and trade Dragic for a young 2nd tier big like Monroe despite his weaknesses. The only way we can get someone significant, is if T-Jones, D-Mo or if Capela play really well. In that unlikely case, I would try to retain the Pelicans pick in another trade. I suspect Love will be traded, before the start of the season to Cleveland. If he still around, Morey will go after him. I don't think the Rockets will end up using the rest of the MLE or even the BAE. I don't agree with that approach, if that really is the case.
Couldn't agree more. Next to superstars, draft picks are the most valuable commodities in the NBA. And w/o a doubt, they are certainly the most liquid of all assets in the NBA.
Its not that a franchise wouldn't want as many picks as they could get (for one reason or another).... Its that the more picks you have, the less you value them as a NECESSITY. If the Rockets' main selling feature of a Dragic or Bledsoe trade package is the Pelicans pick, it means less to them than it would a team like the Knicks who are starving for picks. Phoenix has a goal of making the playoffs this year, and those are their two best players, they are their best chances of making the playoffs, and best chance of having an all-star this February. What I would say to you, is its not about the value of the pick in a vacuum... its about the value of the pick to the individual buyer in this market. Given the direction of the Phoenix Suns, and considering what they are selling (their best chance at the playoffs & an All-Star this year), its not unreasonable at all that this particular buyer would value an actual quality player they know can produce coming back to them in the deal over another pick that similar to what they already have in their pocket. Also it should be noted that Phoenix's GM came out and said a few months ago that the Suns don't want to having 4 rookies coming into training camp next year, and will be aggressive in trades. Those are his words.
"Show me the memo from PGE Corporate that says they knew what was going on in Hinkley.....No? Then we can't prove it." ******************** So, you mean, it's POSSIBLE that Parsons has been planning his escape for an entire year, that when he approached Fegan or vice versa, that he expressed the high opinion of himself---that he wants to be a star, that he knows he is, but probably won't have that chance in Houston behind James and Dwight, and Fegan said "I see that potential too, and that's why I can be good for you, I know people....it's good to know people with friends"... ...and then the Cubes is on the line, talking up how much "we like your game, we can really take you to the next level, there's a good chance we'll have big cap space next year; now I can't PROMISE we'll sign you, that would be illegal" (evil laughter between he and Fegan) "but let's say we strike out on Carmelo and LeBron, well, stay near your phone, you know what I'm saying?" "But," asked Chandler-the-Angel, "what happens if Daryl doesn't make me an RFA?" BIG EVIL LAUGHTER from Cuban and Fegan. "Don't you worry your pretty little self about that," said Fegan. "I got that covered. Morey won this round. He got Dwight. We'll get him to R-F-A you. Let him think he has a shot at you. But let's just say that business has a price....Mr. Recruiter." Cubes said, "I'm gonna make him an offer he can refuse." Evil laughter again. "But we're going to need you to play along for a year. Pretend you want to stay. Say nice things about the coach....I know, I know, but you have to do it. Don't criticize your teammates. DON'T look for Dallas real estate on realtor.com, someone might see you were on the site. So. What do you think?" "I think you guys are a couple of greedy vindictive play-to-win cut-balls scumbags who are trying to pry me away from a team that believed in me and gave me a chance when 30 other teams passed on me in the draft. I think Dallas is full of superficial snobs who are either rich or just act like it....but I want to be mega-rich and can't wait to join the club!!!" Cubes then said, "Attaboy, Bud Fox....er, Chandler. We'll stay in touch." *********** Now, RV6.... You can't POSSIBLY believe any of this happened?
Guys - It has been dead silent from the Rockets part. I can tell you that players are not to crazy about the things the Rockets have done here recently. The article that talks about how Morey sees every player as a piece didn't help. I spoke to a few players and they said Chandler has been bad mouthing the Rockets org pretty bad - Asik too. Not Lin for those who are gonna ask lol
Well, sounds like high school drama. Are the Rockets going to put Parsons in his place, or are they going to let him score 40 on us? They better be fired up when we play the mavs and pelicans. None of these high fives and hugs.
Meh. Players won't care as much when the season starts. I hope they realize that matching Parson's would have been more detrimental to the Rocket's in the long run.
