There needs to be a temporary lock on this thread til something actually happens. Everyone is going through some weird phase of Stockholm syndrome right now lol. This thread/forum sounds like we're talking about the Knicks
This all basically comes down to: Rocketsmanhk - "Morey should have ALREADY signed or drafted a capable PG who can relieve Harden" Others - "Trade season just started and there is a long time left for Morey to address the PG issue" Now let's move on. #CYBERBOMB
It's not "unthinkable" but it is very unlikely. How many rookies ever play a regular rotation role for 55+ win teams, let alone NBA champions? Sam is also unusual in that he was a 24-year-old rookie. The Rockets do need more at PG, but if you want someone whom you know will likely play at a decent level, the way to do it is to add a veteran via trade or free agency-- which I am sure they are still working on.
I have no problem with them. They were forced to take on a far bigger role because of the injuries and they played up to their ability. Just not good enough.
I still don't get what the obsession is over McDaniels. He didn't play any meaningful minutes last season. And he broke his hand dunking the ball in garbage time of a massive blowout which can't be a confidence builder. Add to that we just drafted Dekker and resigned Brewer and there'd be even less playing time for him this season. Unless he'd be backing up Harden which seems unlikely since shooting guards are usually expected to have the ability to shoot. It's not that I oppose keeping him, even if he does wind up riding the bench. But I hate this idea that the MLE(or part of it) is being saved for him when we're missing out on players who could help out the team immediately and on a nightly basis.
we are not standing pat, there have been numerous reports that we are interested in players but in the end those players have chosen other teams. that doesn't mean we are standing pat
one out of 100............doesn't mean it would work now in a league where point guard is probably the strongest position
also, why is everyone saying corew brewer's contract was such a steal, and yet so down on KJ? yall do know KJ is a better defender than brewer is, and they're equally bad shooters. at least KJ has youth on his side.
I think we have to trust Morey and our coaches on this one. They traded for KJ and presumably want to keep him. Let's believe that they know better than we do. KJ really didn't do anything for Houston but he was pretty good at Phil. Maybe they are banking his return to form. I also think Brewer may be a trade asset and that makes KJ more likely to get playing time.
KJ also can't make a jump shot. He's half the offensive threat Brewer is and because he's young doesn't give him the excuse. He has a lot of work to do to be as good as Brewer on offense.
Kj was a rookie. Rookies usually can't shoot so well and can't defend that well. They need time to get acclimated to the speed of the NBA and learn defensive rotations and work on their jumpers. This comparison is unfair to Kj.
ah not at all. I meant as capable shooter. He's one of the fa remaining that is worth signing. And I don't even like him.
Granted, I didn't watch KJ McDaniels play at all with the 76ers, but I don't understand how people who have seen KJ play a total of 33 minutes in garbage time can say definitively that he's better defensively than brewer. Yes, he may have the tools, and the promise. But he's a rook with only half a season of experience. At this point in his career, we don't have the frame of reference to definitively say that KJ is a better bet than Brewer on the NBA's Small Forwards.
