Love Morey! Now he has three medium sized, team-friendly contracts for players that have proven their usefulness with us and can be used for bigger trades. Ariza's contract is very team friendly and is now a value when compared with similar players. Brewer's contract is a value and pretty short termed. Bev's contract is a STEAL! 4th year being guaranteed makes this contract very team friendly. Rockets are going to be players every offseason! Gotta love that flexibility!
I'm actually really happy with these two deals. The biggest criticism Morey has received is that he hasn't been capable of committing to players in the past and treats them too much like assets. Not only is he rewarding these guys for their performance last year, but he's showing faith in what they can accomplish given more time. Also, these deals are both below market value and will look like steals a year from now. Now they just need to lock up Smith with the MLE and somehow acquire a quality veteran PG to compete with Beverley for the starting job.
Seems to be the theme of this offseason.:grin: now its 4 that have turned them down for less money. Wow.

We will resign Smith, someway or another. Dorsey is gone, too. Potentially use KJ for a S&T with Jones as trade bait or the MLE to snag a good point guard. Can still potentially be in the LMA chase if KJ gets a rich deal.
Also, remember 3 hours ago Feigen's report was that the Rockets were "out of the mix with Brewer" and hadn't talk to Beverley. Morey works fast, or the media has no idea what he's doing, or probably both.
