Dirk will likely be worse. Wes Matthews will definitely be worse. They wouldn't be able to afford Lin, but Devin Harris and Barea should be able to replicate what they got from the PG position last year. It's basically a question of whether Deandre Jordan can be big upgrade over Chandler. Chandler was probably a bit better last year than DJ, so it's not very likely. They'll be a fringe playoff team probably, which is worth weakening Portland and Los Angeles.

Was before he tore his achilles. Now, he's an unknown. Only Nique has come back from that injury to be a really high level player IIRC.

Dirk is done defensively...That's a lot of pressure on DJ. Better rounded team, but still has holes. CP will also have a lot of pressure offensively

And even he only had 2 more of those years before he fell off. Giving huge money to someone who tore their Achilles is something only dumb franchises would do.

signing wes could be a coup for the mavs. matthews and aldridge are good friends. there was a rumor they might try to sign with the same team.

DAJ is susceptible to being out of position sometimes defensively. That will show more often with the weak defense outside of Matthews in Dallas.

In my mind, LMA waiting on Wes/DJ is the only thing that makes sense re: Dallas still being near the top of his list. I'm still waiting for someone to figure out how the $$ would have to work for them to add all 3.

I guess he didn't ask Parsons whether or not he had microfracture surgery. It's "don't ask, don't tell in Dallas."

All that's happening are the deck chairs being reshuffled around the non contending playoff teams in the West. If DJ also heads to Dallas now, it removes them from the LMA sweepstakes (unless there is some under the table agreement to take less now and all re-up at the max in a year or two).

Morey was always going the trade route to improve the team while using existing bird rights and the MLE to keep our own players. Relax for now and enjoy the fact that none of our competition has done anything to truly separate themselves from the pack.

It was said that Wes' contract terms aren't being agreed to until they see what becomes of their LMA/DJ pursuit -- which, maybe one or all of them are willing to take a pay cut to make it happen? IDK, I'm just wondering how much of a paycut it would have to be.

They can only do DJ and Wes or LMA and Wes, not all three. They can have around $35 million in cap room. LMA and DJ combine for $38 million.

Obviously, Aldridge isn't going to the Mavericks, but people will still continue on with that.

If they waive Powell and don't offer a QO to Mekel they have about $39 million in cap room. Lets say Aldridge and Jordan gets $18 apiece...what's left for Matthews? $3 million?
