ummm, I certainly don't recall the Rockets making the Finals with Barkley.

that trade killed their depth and Barkley jsut did not fit with Dream and Clyde.

    Fit absolutely matters

How did they know when lma himself may not know yet. Its highly likely he hasnt completely made up his mind yet or if he has it happened late today. Its even more unlikely that he immediately commited to the rockets while still keeping playing the bachelor amd asking for second dates. Its also almost impossible that such info would leak to lower member of the organisation when the player himself keeps up acting.

I might just let Bev walk. Collison is the better player, signed to a better deal (likely). Unless Bev comes super cheap, you may just use a portion of the MLE to get a guy like Stuckey as a backup.

Youngsters man they don't remember the glory years. Hopefully harden/Howard/LMA can create some new ones for these guys.

    - Lakers and Rockets met with LMA back-to-back
    - info of LMA's thoughts on Lakers and Rockets' respective meetings came at the same time
    - Lakers mouthpieces (Fat Ramona) pretty much concede that the info on LMA's thoughts on LA were true

Makes me think that the info on the Rockets' meeting was accurate as well. And what was said about LMA's thoughts on the Rockets' meeting? That he loved the way the Rockets explained how he could fit in this offense and what they envisioned him doing in Houston. He apparently appreciated the in-depth analytical projection of how he would play next to Harden and Howard.

If that info is true, and I believe they are based on the top part of this post, that means that Aldridge DOES NOT NEED TO BE THE #1 SCORING OPTION on whichever team he goes to. If he liked Houston's presentation that undoubtedly explained to him that he was going to be the #2 scoring option on the team to Harden, then it tells me that this isn't that big of a deal for him.

I think James friggin' Harden's name is once again being underhyped by the national media. As much as I respect Duncan, Pop, Kobe, Nash, Tyson Chandler, and the immortal Adam Levine; James Harden is the most influential individual that met with Aldridge today. Sure in terms of past history Duncan/Pops/Kobe have all trumped anything Harden has done, but in terms of the future there probably isn't a player I'd rather have than Anthony Davis, LeBron, and maybe Curry (Durant's injury ? gives Beard the edge). The entire league saw what Harden did by himself in the regular season. Aldridge most certainly saw how his Portland squad was battling in the standings with a one-man Harden squad (I know it's more than just 1 guy, but he was carrying them).

Just like Harden gave us a puncher's chance against anyone during the season, I think his presence gives us a puncher's chance in the LMA sweepstakes. I'd still say the Spurs are the favorites but I really think we're his only other real option, I can't see him choosing Chandler/Knight over Howard/Harden just because he wants to be THE GUY.

Man dream was gone by then I hate to say it. His legs were almost to the point of being gone. Ya don't make it to the WCF if your not a damn good team. One thing I love about basketball in a 7 game series the better team always wins..So bench or no bench we wouldn't make it that far with out him. Others wise another loss to seattle. You have a differ view and I can respect that but I don't look with rose colored glasses or with no glasses I just look at whats real.

He means the conference finals, and by "the Sonics hump" he's talking about the one time they beat us.

The Barkley trade was sort of bad in year one, and got worse every year after that.

He mean't western conference finals. We won 50+ games that year but no team was beating Utah that season but Chicago.

Not denying that at all could be just lower management being excited hearing our meeting went well which it did. I just wanted to share with my fellow clutchfans the info I heard from a guy I know does work the rockets training camps for the last 4 years.

Agreed. But I couldn't disagree more with the idea (Bobby's I think) that LMA is a bad fit with Howard and Harden. He's a perfect fit. He's probably the best fit of any of the 'third stars' we've gone after.

He said earlier he'd be out tying one on tonight, I assume that's what he's doing.

Sonics beat the Rockets three times in the playoffs. 1987, 1993, and 1996.

We made the WCF and that trade allowed us to make it that far. If not would of been another loss to Seattle...Hey barkely had his negatives but lets be honest with ourselves Robert Horry can say what he wants but they weren't winning crap the way there constructed.

    Western Conference Finals I meant....

Sonics SWEPT the Rockets the previous years playoffs. Barkley pushed the Rockets over the hump and unfortunately a historical duo was waiting for us in Stockton/Malone.

The Barkley trade was the right move. The team had peaked and couldn't overcome the Sonics defense of Hakeem. Drexler and the Dream were ageing and the window was closing.

It's been pointed out many many many times how many of the last 30 or so championships have been won by a handful of players.

Individual talent means more to basketball success than fit. The Pistons are the lone exception that proves the rule.

The reason I think he's a bad fit is that by far his favorite shot in the game is the Rocket's least favorite shot in the game. Also, I don't trust his one year 3 point shooting numbers, he had a career high, and I think he falls back down to earth next season.

There's no question that LMA has the tools, but he just really likes jacking up mid-range garbage.
