I hear what your saying. But you don't just drop Dwight. He was a guy who left 30 million to come play for us. He was the first big name free agent to chose us in a very long time. But injuries play a huge role.
I agree but they don't need "max contract" talent because that will diminish the talent we already have in place.
I felt this way too till about after a week passed and I stopped being salty at them. They had a ridiculous regular season. They won because they are the best.
Their roster is filled with ex-Allstars and they have two superstars and another emerging star. I agree that depth and chemistry is really important, but our time in the playoffs proved we need another go-to player badly. Depth and star players don't have to be mutually exclusive. A good GM can make both happen.
Yeah, and apparently a team with lots of stars tend to have an easy time putting that one ball into the basket. See 2012 Thunder. See Heat superfriends. See Celtics with big 3. And that's just in the past decade. Somehow, and I may be going out on a limb here, when teams trap Harden, him passing to Durant or LMA may just be a bit effective compared to him passing to Ariza or TJones.
Even with a $90m cap i can't see fitting howard/harden/LMA AND Durant in there. The only way that works is to S&T for both LMA and Durant next year. No way OKC trades him let alone to us and we won't have the salaries to match. There won't be enough cap space in that scenario unless dwight is willing to take MLE money or less.
While I don't want to bank on Hardens relationship with Durant, I too hope DM doesn't gut this roster for LMA if that's the play.
We worry about Durant and next year next year. If you can get LMA this year, you do it. No guarantees on Durant.... as much as he's my main target you can't pass up LMA if you can get him. As much as I like Ariza, he's no LMA.

I know that DMC in a star but that's a crazy ask from the Kings. Definitely can't blame the lake for turning that down.
