The Rockets has never had much of a shot at retaining him given the cap situation. Resigning KJ requires the use of the MLE and the Rockets had higher priority targets with that money (Llull, retaining Josh Smith, more NBA-ready free agent). KJ is a decent prospect, but still just a prospect and the team isn't waiting around for him to fulfill his potential.

 

I hope the means we are getting Llull and signing him to the MLE and just don't have the space for Kj.

 

so they traded canaan and a second for KJ. Its looking like a salary dump by the rockets to me since canaan is paid through 2016.

 

Damn, I really hope he gets to stay. I honestly think he can be a solid backup 3 for our team.

You're right, but the trade for him has been a failure. Morey knew how hard it would be to retain him. I am unhappy with this situation.

We are losing him for nothing.

 

Why is losing him for nothing a problem. He has not earned that stance yet. The only players that you should be upset with losing for nothing are superstars.

Honestly, this would have never happened if we just drafted Kawhi Leonard over Marcus Morris. Honestly, that is the worst decision that Morey has ever made. Kawhi was like a sure thing at the time while Morris was just another undersized power forward who thought he could play the 3. Dumb.
