Josh Smith isn't afraid of taking the shots he knows that needs to be taken as well....and he makes about the same percentage of them. Why again would the Rockets want to overpay Green? However, Green did provide my favorite moment of this years NBA finals
green's basketball IQ is definitely way ahead of smith's but I never said anything about paying green. Just wanted to point out that your statement made it seem like Green isn't worth much. Green's value is at his highest with GS. He isn't going anywhere.
That picture certainly showed his BBIQ..... I was just trying to say that Green isn't worth much to the Rockets, he's not. It simply wouldn't make any sense to go after Green.
that picture means nothing. there are plenty of similar moments to houston's very own harden but won't get into that. anyone who follows Josh Smith knows his bbiq isn't something to be proud of. that's probably the main thing that has held him back in his career. I would take green on this team but definitely not for max money.
Would Green help the Rockets? Absolutely, he is better than the garbage the Rockets trot out there now. Would I target Green over Aldridge or Love? Nope. Would I target Green if it meant gutting the team? Nope. Green is a very nice player, but he isn't the type of player you invest so much capital in, like you would with Aldridge or Love. Still the fact remains, the PF and PG position for the Rockets are cesspools.
Green would be decent depth off the bench so long as he got away with committing the same fouls here in Houston that he gets away with committing for the Warriors.....but he's nowhere near worth what he's getting paid to be in a role like that. I wouldn't start Green over DMo, and I think Green vs Smith is a tossup at best. That said, I get that people will overrate him right now, I just don't think our FO will be those people.
This is a path I'd like to see them take... Except they won't be able to get Green, especially with the other moves mentioned above. And I don't particularly care of Josh Smith is back or not. The upside is tantalizing, but way too much volatility. Performance volatility hurts championship teams aspirations. Too much up and down. Hurts the other players abilities to settle into their proper roles, etc. So they'll need another PF. Scola would be a nice stopgap, but you'd like to get better. Trade K.Pap and Jones for Lawson, Resign Brewer Find/Draft or otherwise another good PF Bring over Llull Add defensive and 3 point shooting depth wherever possible
I loathe Green, but he'd actually be a very good fit for the Rockets. He can hit the outside shot(although not as well as D-Mo). He's a terrific defensive player. And he's one of those garbage guys like Battier who can fill up the stat sheet without any plays being run for him. That being said, there's no point in pursuing him since we don't have the capspace and the Warriors are a 99% lock to match the inevitable max offer he gets anyway.
I feel like Green is more or less a product of his situation. He's perfect for them, and worth the max or close to it in order to keep him. However... you can't just take Draymond Green, and make him... The Situation. You can't expect him to be your 2nd or 3rd best player. You do that and I think you're missing the point of what makes Green so great for the Warriors. I don't really know why he's even being discussed as a Rockets target honestly. He's not DEMANDING to go to the Rockets, and they don't have the cap space. There is literally no reason to think he's close to being a target at this point. Green will sniff around some teams that have that max cap space but ultimate goal is leverage to get resigned by Golden State of have them match. Golden State isn't going to succumb to a S&T situation where they fear they are losing him to the Rockets in free agency so they agree to a S&T. They will call that bluff all day long. Even if the Rockets could get him in a S&T, or clear cap to get him, I'm going to tell you guys this once and leave it at that... if he leaves the Warriors for big money, he will be viewed as one of the worst contracts around the league.
How on earth are you people so out-of-the-loop regarding Draymond Green? He is a restricted free agent. Full stop. The cap is jumping up in a few years and his current max contract will not be close to one in only a few seasons. Every respected NBA journalist, like Zach Lowe, has reported that this isn't even a question: Golden State will match any offer he receives. Draymond is not leaving the Warriors.
I agree. Love that dude and what he brings to this forum! I wish I lived in Houston.. maybe I could grab a beer with him sometime lol
No, no, no! Cyberx said nothing to that effect. Green is an RFA on a team that is about to become champions. He is their 2nd most important player on that team. ZERO chance he leaves. He will get a "market max" contract. End of story.
horsemouth wouldn't be the same player on the rockets. he would foul out or get ejected w/ techs every other game in a rox uni
