You can believe that if you want but there's nothing to support that other than your opinion. Your crush for Rubio is hilarious
Only thing everyone can agree on is that Rubio is a better passer than any of the other PG's listed. His court vision is amazing. Lawson/Teague/Holiday (and let's add Conley to that mix) are much better overall players. All of them are better scorers and defenders than Rubio. I think Lawson may have also averaged more assists than Rubio last season (or it was very close between them).
People just think Bledsoe is a good defender because he is the best blocking/rebounding PG in the league. He racks up steals too. But in terms of pure perimeter defending, he's average. He's not long either, but being so athletic means he definitely can be a great defender if he doesn't gamble so much. I think great defending PG's that aren't untouchable status (ie. Wall) are Conley and Teague. However Hawks playing so well might mean Teague is untouchable to the Hawks too. The only thing making me think maybe not is that German kid Schroeder looks good to take over from Teague.
Change Rubio for Teague, like I said. Teague has some of the best defensive fundamentals among guards. His lateral quickness is very good.
Disagree. The Pek-Dieng (please)- Love Trio of the 40 win Twolves will do nothing compared to what playing with Dwight and James will do on a 56 win Rockets team for Ricky's looks. Just look at SMoove. Bad Shooter = Teams leave open. Late Rotate. Clog James side of the floor instead, double dwight in the post to stop the smoove entry pass. IF Smoove can go from Sub 30% from 3 to mid-low 30's. I am confident Ricky can go from 31 to 34. You see this with marginal shooters everywhere in the right situation. Also disagree with James not being able to play off the ball. He's best as a player maker but that's not a sustainable model. We are grossly over-reliant on him. If he wants a PG who can create and justify starting, he is going to to have to learn to play off the ball better. We all know hes easily capable of taking a Pierce role when the offense is rolling under a pure PG.. its just.. would he. If the offense is clogging.. you give it James. If its the 4th quarter.. you give it to James. Those are givens.
I would love for us to snag one of ATL's guards. I doubt they look to move either because they just don't need to, but with Schroeder sitting the last few games of the playoffs, you never know what they might be thinking. Guys that I think are at least not 'untouchable' and play respectable defense are Lowry (sometimes), Rubio, Teague or Schroeder, and Collison. They're all on different levels, but those are the starter quality guys I would look at.
Forget Rubio. I hope cyber is not so busy and can guve us some info on Llull. Has he changed his mind?
Beverley has the lateral quickness. I would put beverley in this group of defenders. He's just mentally frustrating instead of a sound fundamental defender
My point was that Rubio is nowhere near that valuable to the Rockets. Why would the Rockets ever give up that much for a guy like Rubio?
I am also a firm believer in the discrepancies of value evaluation. Certain players can be had for discounts while others are traded with premiums. It really just depends on the two team's seperate situations. That's why I think Ty Lawson could be aquired with not as much as we all think. I don't know much how Minny's situation though; are they shopping him around? I can't see why Minny would resist giving up Rubio for a couple young guys with high potential.
Patrick Beverley's best games as a Rocket offensively have been against the T-Wolves last year. Yeah, Rubio is a real gem on defense. Steals do NOT equal good defense The last thing the Rockets need is another player that gambles on defense. Yolo is right.... your crush on Rubio is hilarious. I've actually seen you make a case that Rubio is secretly a good shooter. Pretty funny stuff. (for the record, I actually like Rubio... just not at the price of eliminating upgrades elsewhere on the roster, and I don't love the fit next to Harden).
Not a knock on Cyber. The guy obviously has connections, but I have my doubts on what his sources are telling him about the Llull situation. Several weeks ago, right after Morey visited overseas in March, Cyber made the claim that he heard Llull was "Penciled in" as the Rockets starter next year. Then shortly after Llull won the Euro title Cyber pretty much said that he heard Llull is content on staying over in Europe because of the buyout (which was debunked that is actually made sense to come over financially IF he was getting the full MLE), and then he made the case with the lifestyle. So again.... Cyberx has sources or a source, but not sure either how plugged in they are with Llull, or if the messages Llull is sending out are majorly conflicted. Much like with Papanikolaou, its probably going to have to be a game time decision in July AFTER other moves are decided in order to see what Morey does first in order to be able to use the full MLE. Still going to be some negotiations back and forth regardless I'm sure, but its probably going to be something on the back burner that will wait until Morey is done with other moves first.
Be careful. I was once told that trying to analyze information Cyber posted made me an egomaniac and a jerk.
If we got Rubio, Rubio's best games as a Rocket would be the ones he played in 2014-15, guarding Beverley.
It looks to me that cybers source is good and the one who changes his mind is Llull. Right after cyber said that from Llull wanting to come now he looks not to want to come Llull himself went to the media and said he wants to stay. It may be a matter of desire and undecided from the player not the source or the negotiations. After all the negotiations have a max amount = mle. No more possible. And everyone knows he wont take less with such a buyout.
