Scola Def but why are we getting rid of Dmo? Would Portland ask for both Jones and D-Mo? Bev is going to get a nice offer from someone like Utah or Dallas. I doubt he'd take a cheap deal just to stay put.
Ariza is a must go. Everyone else is fairly minor in terms of salary, but Ariza's $8mil is necessary to carve out the money for LMA. The only other possibility, besides a very unlikely S&T, is asking LMA to take a slightly discounted 1yr deal with promise of big payday in 2016.
If the Rockets were willing to pay both Bosh 20M & Parsons 16M they won't need to create salary space just send out enough salary in a S&T for LMA.
Without a s&t there's really no way to do it, it can be done without a discount without Ariza, it just requires us to s&t players elsewhere
All options are on the table for Aldridge this summer, including a departure from the Blazers, a source familiar with his free agency strategy told Ken Berger of CBSSports.com. The source also said to Berger that he wouldn’t be surprised if the All-Star signed with a Texas team.
Because we will have 3 max contract and won't be able to afford Dmo when Capella is better at backup center.
They will at least need to have the illusion of the necessary cap space to force a S&T. The "trade me here or I go to this team I don't really want to play for" has never happened. "I'm going there no matter what, but would appreciate a mutually beneficial S&T" is how it works.
No, you're not the only one. I think it's a terrible idea. I'm all for adding him if it doesn't cost us Ariza, Brewer, or Smith. I don't see how that's possible though. Assuming the Rockets reach at least Game 6 or 7 in Round 2, I'd much prefer we bring everyone back, try to add a PG and maybe another wing player and hope that better health and more depth leads to even better results next season.
it's more just a case of finding out if portland will accommodate it or not, they'll make their position clear early i'm sure.
I'm not so sure about this. The Warriors were in the conversation for Dwight even though they didn't have the cap space. He simply chose Houston so that scenario never came to fruition. All it takes is one realistic alternative, and with teams like the Spurs/Mavs in the mix, Aldridge will have that. It's not like there's only ONE scenario where a guy can be happy. Most have multiple viable options that they really like, which in turn makes the original team much more likely to consider a S&T. It's not a matter of saying "trade me here or else". It's a matter of Portland finding out that Aldridge is exploring the market and reading the tea leaves, then presenting Aldridge alternatives that could get both he and the team something, rather than Aldridge leaving them for nothing. Aldridge would then weigh the straight-up signing vs. his options via trade.
I appreciate what Cyberx does for this forum but I wish this thread would die until the actual off season. Let's see how this current team does before we speculate on additions/subtractions from the team. Just the thought of another roller coaster off season makes me nauseous. Lets just enjoy the playoff ride. Go Rockets!
By the way, in case anyone missed this from late last night: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Regards to last RT, I've been told by 2 players in the <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Blazers?src=hash">#Blazers</a> locker room they do not believe LaMarcus Aldridge will return next season.</p>— Amy Schwartz (@TheAmySchwartz) <a href="https://twitter.com/TheAmySchwartz/status/591129261034995712">April 23, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> (She's a reporter on the Blazers and is with the team on a regular basis.)
I'd give up Brewer and Smith for LMA. I just draw the line at Ariza; maybe I am overvaluing his contributions but I can't see the defense holding the line without him. Time to focus on game 3 guys! LMA can wait until his imminent fishing trip!
Who cares about the timing? It's interesting talking about this stuff. He probably put it there just to get a rise out of people you included.
Why are y'all hating on cyberx for say "hey we think there is a good chance LMA might be here next year" If Portland was to get knocked today and LMA came out tomorrow and said "I plan on joining the rockets" everyone would be freaking out in excitement Don't come to a fan forum not expecting some spoilers
Iunno, I think we have a defensive identity with Ariza and Brewer at the wing I think Harden's defense benefited a lot from it as well. I don't know what the team will be like defensively by getting rid of our wings without an upgrade in defence in the PF position.
Blazers lockerroom probs. This is not something you tell a reporter in the middle of a playoff series.
