It really would be nice to know some of the deals the Rockets were chasing. Some deals probably just got too rich for Morey and he punted.
Feigen posted the Rockets had offered the Pels & NY pick for bigger deals. Morey can't force the other team to take it.
I called that a few days ago. Not a Morey move to risk a valuable 1st-rounder and/or D-Mo for a 3 month rental. Dragic clearly didn't want to come here.
Ok, let's be real.....I would MUCH rather continue to hold onto my wealth with the hopes that something in the future will open up (a la Harden), rather than overpay and NEVER be in the position to strike when something big comes along. This team is still poised to do great things this year, even if we didn't get the upgrade at PG we were all hoping for.
Sad thing is we could've easily trumped Miami's offer for Dragic without mortaging the future. That's what upsets me... it was worth the rental.
Dude you can get a star in a perfect world with that NO pick. It was not worth the rental. You don't mortgage your long-term for the short-term. Guys like T Mac, Kobe, Paul George, Kawhi etc were picked around that.
Let's wait and see how much money the Heat give Dragic this offseason before we put Morey's head on a pike.
Never forget... Chemistry is important to winning basketball. We improved without giving up much. I thing Cannan will be good but that's offset by KJ who may also be good down the line.
Exactly...now that OKC loaded up, I think NOP will slow down a bit and the pick will end up 11-13. Better than a rental by Dragic the Slovenian Melo
While I agree, because Dragic likely would have left, or at least that's what it sounds like, the Rockets do need to go all in sooner rather than later. Flexibility is only good if you use it, and with Dwight going downhill soon, the Rockets need to go for it at some point.
Not only that but we have another trading asset during lottery time. Maybe we can pick up a key pc before the start of next season. I agree with you, not worth a rental.
The offer is: " Miami sends Danny Granger, Norris Cole, Shawne Williams, Jordan Hamilton and two first-round picks to the Suns for Dragic brothers." Out of the list of players, it's all contract fillers. Suns want 2 first round picks. I don't see how we could easily top that. It feels like they're not trying to get back players, they only want picks, or they won't trade away Thomas so easily as well as Ennis. So you want to beat 2 first rounders for a rental and it would be "worth it.." Anything short of a championship and this trade actually leading to that would make this worth it in my opinion.
In my opinion you trade the first rounder and a future 1st for the opportunity to contend for a championship. Right now, I don't believe the roster is constructed to win one because of the creating/playmaking problems we have outside of Harden.
