That NY 2nd to me is almost more valuable than the NO Pels pick IMO. I want to keep that 2nd round pick when some of those possible gems get passed up in the 1st round and Morey is there to scoop them up.
I trust Morey as much as the next guy, but the closer it gets to the deadline, the more I'm beginning to see the stark realization that nothing big is going to happen today. Dragic, Lawson, Jackson and Knight are not going to be Rockets this season. I'd absolutely settle for a backup center, though.
Rockets have a good track record picking in the 2nd rd but if you ask any team if they want the Pels pick or the NYK 2nd they all take the Pels pick. At the end of the day the Pels pick is still far superior to the NYK pick.
lol the Harden trade happened right at the deadline, not to say something big is gonna happen but you never know.
Depends on if a rebuilding team or a contender IMO, don't know what the rockets would have to pay for a 3 year contract in late lottery for someone who won't get much clock his first couple of years. That first or 2nd spot in the second round is a highly coveted spot for a contending team, its much more flexible.
True. But I just think the odds are stacked against Houston getting anything big done this year. Dragic not wanting to re-sign in Houston makes trading for him a huge gamble, both Milwaukee and Denver are going to want a pretty penny for Knight and Lawson, respectively, and I don't know that Morey would even have that much interest in Jackson. I hope I'm wrong on this, but I don't think I am.
The Harden trade happened a day before the first game of the 2012 season against the Pistons. So, it wasn't before 'a trade deadline' actually.
Oh yeah. I should have caught that already. I think I'm still sleep deprived from waking up at 2:40 and frantically checking my phone.
No, you are right. There's a deadline to sign players on rookie deals to extensions. If a deal doesn't get signed the day the NOP season starts, those players turn into RFA. Morey traded for Harden a couple of days before Harden was about to turn into a RFA
I'm glad a fell asleep early refreshing my iPad. Literally no news last night. Crazy. Hope that changes soon.
