why can't we pull of this trade: OKC Gets: Tjones NO Pick Denver Gets: PAPA Terry Reggie Jackson Knicks 2nd Pick from Houston Houston Gets Ty Lawson Cavs Pick Via Denver
but why would that information cause a team like NY or LA try to trade for him? The info removes their sole incentive to do so
Dragic wants to be traded but keeps acting in a manner that will ensure he remains a Sun the rest of the season.
I just don't see how coming into a situation where he immediately competes for a championship isn't attractive to him.
We're getting burned again. Morey isn't worried about winning right now it seems because of a very small chance to get Durant.
except the Suns have no incentive to keep him. He is certainly driving his trade value down, but since he is 100% walking at the end of the season, the Suns will take the best deal they get even if it is less than they think they deserve.
A couple of thoughts at this time: 1. Morey surely has a plan B for scoring and ball-handling help, but he's holding out for the juiciest, highest hanging fruit still. 2. Does anyone think Phoenix would keep Dragic just to spite him at this point? I mean, with full knowledge that he will leave them at the end of the year out of distaste for having to play with Isaiah Thomas and Bledsoe, do you think that Phoenix will just cut its losses and hold him for the rest of the year? Sounds very unlikely to me. Either they bite on the best offer they can get for him, or they surprisingly dump Thomas right before the deadline and make one final push to try to convince Dragic to stay in Phoenix with a less cluttered backcourt.

Some guys care more about having the ball a bunch than actually winning. Carmelo is an obvious example.
No what I am saying is that Phoenix thinks that Dragic wants the five year max enough that if they keep him and offer it then it will be too hard for him to turn down. Meanwhile, Camp Dragic is trying to steer them away from that by saying that fifth year doesn't matter to them (which may or may not be true, this is leveraging). They could also S&T him to a team in the Summer if he still doesn't want to sign in Phoenix at all costs.
How are you getting Morey is not worried about winning from Goran not wanting to come to Houston and Denver not being hot on the market rate for Lawson?
I wouldn't say that, Woj has always reported information from the point of view of whoever is feeding him information, in this case the Nuggets front office. The Nuggets saying that no offers are moving them for Lawson is another way of them trying to get teams to up their offers one last time. If the Nuggets want to keep Lawson now when they are in obvious rebuild mode, then they deserve to blow a bunch of cash and suck. There's no gurantee the Rockets are even truly considering Lawson and we are all assuming they had Dragic at the top of their lists. These guys could be fall back options and Morey prefers other potential deals he is working outside of the twittersphere updates.
i am calling complete BS on this. Dragic will earn 22.5M of his 4 year/30M contract because he is opting out. Thats 22.5M for the last 2 seasons and this year total. not including the higher raises - the 5th year alone in a max deal is worth 24.9M How smart could Goran have been that he would be willing to leave 24.9M for one year or 28M total over the life of the entire contract on the table? Furthermore Goran has made 29.7M TOTAL of course of his 7 year NBA career (http://www.spotrac.com/nba/phoenix-suns/goran-dragic/cash-earnings/) How smart could you have been with your money when you'll be leaving almost the same amount of cash you have made over the past 7 years on the table for the sake of one year? That 5th year means a whole lot to Goran anyone who says otherwise is just deluding themselves. This is a player who has played on small or very reasonable contracts his entire career all of a sudden willing to leave MAX dollars to go play in LA or NY where the supposed pull of either of those places are "potential earning ability outside of basketball?" Lets just look at it like this he would have to earn at least 28M over the course of 4 years to justify leaving thats 7M per season on average. http://opendorse.com/blog/top-100-highest-paid-athlete-endorsers-of-2013/ that list is a bit old but players who made this 7M average or less included: Dwight Howard Chris Paul Pau Gasol Russell Westbrook Paul Pierce Chris Bosh Deron Williams Dirk Rudy Gay Joe Johnson Zbo I remember reading his agent thought being an international player in a big market would net him big $. Gasol would probably be the most similar person to look at and he made 3M in endorsements playing for the Lakers. Unless there is some sort of crazy shoe deal he is able to sign (like how Amare signed a 6-7 year deal with Nike his first season in NY or Rose's deal with ADIDAS) he isn't going to see 7M a year from endorsements from either of those two cities. And of course this isn't including the ridiculous amounts of tax he would have to pay in Cali and NY further reducing his actual disposable income. I'll donate 28 bucks to the tip jar if Dragic leaves 28M on the table to go play in NY or LA -- doesn't matter what team he is on Friday - if he leaves that team to go play in any of these supposed destinations. (caveat being if he is traded to LA/NY tomorrow then bets are off)
It's pretty suspect that NY is on his short list considering Melo is there, plus the triangle system. This is obviously his agents trying to squeeze all of dragics earning potential.
