Ken Berger said he was a potential buyout candidate. I think that's the only indication of that we've had so far.
With Holiday out the Pels pick does become more attractive - I fully expect OKC to leap frog both Phoenix and NOP in the coming weeks.
Probably has to play at a high level to get a max contract. If he doesn't play well, teams won't offer the max.
i agree there would have to be one or two more players aside from Dragic to do something like that now imo
I've wondered about that. But you would think a guy who believes he's worth 20 mil a year is gonna play up to those standards the rest of the year. If he comes here and dogs it for the remainder of the season, he may not get the max deal payday he's counting on.
If Reggie goes to BKN, Jack is expendable, right? (Yes, I realize I'm the only person on this train.)
If he doesn't play at a high level, he won't get the new contract he's looking for, from us or anyone. I'd say that's a pretty good motivator.

If Morey keeps chasing Dragic it has to be either misdirection or he is getting private word from his camp he is interested in Houston. Otherwise its dumb to give up anything of value for a player who doesn't want to be here
Its not totally unrealistic on Morey's part to think that if he takes a gamble on Dragic (the gamble being he walks in the summer) and the Rockets go deep into the playoffs or even the Finals, then it is not unreasonable to think that Morey believes he could convince Dragic to stay on a contender + receive max money with his bird rights. I know NY, LA and Miami may look tempting but all those teams (Miami is aging) seem to be on the decline or in rebuild mode before they can hope to become competitive again. If the cost is the NOP + TJones, I say do it.
he is a UFA in a PG saturated market you think other GMs are going to be lining up for him if he pouts and doesn't play well because he wasn't happy? No team wants a drama queen like that on their team. If anything its in his benefit to play well so it shows he is a team player. Players want that $$$ first and foremost
Why would Minny buy out Martin when the Rockets would probably give up assets to get him(albeit smaller assets)? Only way Minny would do that is if the Rockets decide they don't want Martin, or if they are really doing this because they are afraid of his agent. Either way, I think someone would pick him up off waivers. So I think he doesn't end up in Dallas either way..not that I would care. He makes us better backing up Harden, but really does nothing for their team.
1. He is a professional and hopefully will conduct himself in such a way while a member of the Houston Rockets. 2. He isn't made of stone. If he sees us contending for an NBA championship, he may never get that chance again and will likely be motivated to help us win one. Worth the NOP pick and filler to me.
